It's been months of sitting on this new launch but finally images of the newest Urban Decay Vice 3 Palette are here and we can spill the beans.

 I have to tell my neighbor. She's 14 and a total UD fan. Last  year she got the  Naked 3 palette for Christmas and I warned her ( and her  mom ) this Christmas will bring some great choices too.

Earth Day Beauty

Earth Day is today as no doubt you've heard. Yes, we will be inudated with articles etc. from many places but it's always worth the time to look at some products that are nice to Mother Nature and us.

There are a lot of beauty products available and many more natural ones than ever. We've come a long way from the days of soaps that smelled like herbs crushed under tires.  Now you can be eco -friendly with a high end look/ feel and quality to match. Here are a few of my  top picks.

Urban Decay-  Their top notch Good Karma brushes are all vegan, made from recycled PET bottles with recycled aluminum handles.  Also, each comes in a magnetic box made from recycled egg cartons.  12 brush types to choose from.

Avalon Organics-  I'd used their  shampoo years ago, pre-blogging and was recently  reminded how good they were . Their Lavender Nourishing shampoo and conditioner is now NSF certified with 70 % organic ingredients. It's  great for hair with no parabens, sulfates, or phthalates but you don't sacrifice good hair by going organic. My hair is light, full of body and clean after use. Apivita - I'd heard of this Greek , holistic company,  but hasn't yet tried it until last week. I am enjoying testing many  of their products. All products have between 80-100 % natural ingredients including 100 % pure essential oils as well as many bee originated ingredients like propolis and honey.   Winners so far include Euphoria body wash and lotion which smells to me a  bit like tuberose, but is jasmine and white tea and Lip Care with Blackcurrant, a lightly tinted lip moisturizer. www.apivita.com/usa

Lavanila- They call themselves The Healthy Fragrance. If you are looking for a fragrance that is more natural but don't want to just use oils ,  this line comprised of oils and botanicals along with alcohol sourced from organic sugar cane  is worth a look . New is Fresh Vanilla Lemon scent, perfect for summer with it's bright blend of lemon citrus with a hint of  vanilla . Also comes in their natural deodorant.

Urban Decay New 24/7 Liners in Abyss, Cuff & Goldmine

 You may have heard that Urban Decay released new shades  in their  legendary 24/7 pencil line.  These are loved by most, but those of us with makeup melt, even more so since they really last. Then of course there is the fabulous color selection.

With the re- launch as UD calls it, there are 13 new shades to love.  I have three of them , all super metallic sparklers.

Goldmine and Cuff  bring the molten  especially Cuff. It's serious silver.  I love a good silver eye pencil even if it's a shade I don't use a lot, and well,  gold,  that I use a lot.

Abyss is a pretty,  rich blue shade that is not navy nor teal. It's bright blue with plenty of large shimmer. Urban Decay calls it  micro sparkle and that's the finish for all three here.

Urban Decay Super Saturated High Gloss Lip Color

When Urban Decay named this lip pencil Super Saturated they were totally going for truthy in advertising. In all my years of lipstick trying and that's considerable, I don't think I've ever seen a lippie this pigmented and bold.  Shown is Punch Drunk , a tangerine orange. There is also a red and several pinks.

These go on full and thick and wear really well. They have  shine but I would still call the finish satin. Shiny satin , perhaps, since it's more than satin but not  quite glossy.

 What I've found when the straight up color is too bold is to wipe off most of it , which leaves  stain like finish behind and use it as  base. It boosts paler lippies and gives lots of staying power.

Vintage Files- Urban Decay Nail Polish 1997

With Urban Decay bringing new nail polish out again after a long absence , I thought it time to share my old bottles ( vintage by now) from the company's earlier days and when bold color nail polish was really new and groundbreaking.

In 1997 Urban Decay partnered with designer Todd Oldham and made a set of 3 polishes to benefit one of my favorite causes- animal welfare. I had to have this set with names like Stray Dog. The 3 polishes came in a usable, small, dog dish. It was called the Urban Animal Collection.

The 3 shades were Stray Dog( greenish tinted silver) , Alley Cat ( copper, and one I no longer have) and Shelter( emerald green).

The colors were awesome but have sadly dried up. It's rare that happens as I have 20 yr. old polish that are still good, but they did. You can still see the awesome shade colors though.

As for today, Urban Decay just put out a new Summerof Love collection of polishes if you're looking to add to your own collection.

Urban Decay Alice in Wonderland Book of Shadows

Hottest item so far this year- the Alice in Wonderland Book of Shadows . It's a good one, so lets take a close up look. So far all I have seen is the main image. I tried to get some shots of the artwork inside and how unique it is. It's a pop up book for makeup nuts.

Urban Decay Ink For Eyes

Ink for Eyes is new this fall from Urban Decay. It's a perfect cream eyeliner. I say perfect, because it's so darn easy to use.

First of all you get a long thin strip of eyeliner in a case with it's own brush, and here's the thing- it's a great brush. That brush applies the eyeliner so well and fast. One simple line across my eyelid and I had perfect eyeliner and done. I can't even manage that with pencils sometimes. Of course thats due in part to the fact that I hate to take the time to sharpen my pencils.

Anyway, Ink for Eyes having a fab brush is a bonus. Yes, I have some excellent eyeliner brushes, but isn't it just simpler when one is right there? And a mirror.

The pigment here is rich, the cream very fluid . Shown is the brown( Demolition), but I also love the purple ( Empire).
