Commodity Best Of Book Gift Set

Scentered Sleep Well Candle & Set

Annick  Goutal's Holiday fragrance is one of my all time favorites.  The combination of citrus and pine  is the scent of a bright forest walk in the sunshine and crisp air .

Commodity 3x3 Exploration Set

Commodity fragrances 's holiday set is perfect to acquaint yourself with the brand or grab portable minis if you're already a fan.

The box set contains 3 each EDP fragrances in 5ml and 2.5 oz votive candles in Orris, Book and Tea.  Yes, Commodity has candles now.

Orris is an earthy iris spiked with spices for a warmer feel than  you usually see in Iris scents. As it dries down it's woodsy( you can smell the pathchouli and cedarwood) then a little vanilla mixes with the orris.

Tea is sweet and a little smoky.  Honey ,oolong tea,  rose , tobacco and sandalwood feature prominiently.  It's quite pretty and my favorite of the trio .  Very much a scent that  adds warmth to a cool day.

Book is dry , and does smell like old paper and antique books which partially comes from the eucalyptus note. Cedarwood adds to that along with cypress and amber. It's very woodsy in a not so woodsy way.

The set is beautifully presented in a minimalist looking gift box covered with an outer sleeve .  The candles are hand poured and soy based and the fragrances are unisex.

At $ 38 this a bargain for all you get. It's only at Sephora and LE.

NEST Fragrances Liquidless Diffuser

How cool is this? NEST has a new diffuser for holiday that has no liquid. If you're worried about spills  or simply don't like the concept, you can have the fab fragrances the brand does for Holiday with little muss or fuss.

You get a small gold metal vessel with open front and sides so air flows freely. Then you add the sticks. Each scented stick is supposed to last 30 days and 2 sticks is enough for a smaller room , 3 larger, etc. You get 5 in each set.

The sticks ( which are trademarked) are custom made of paper , infused with fragrance oil and according to the brand, conditioned with a patented technology. The sticks have a strong fragrance out of the package and good throw.

I was just telling my buddy Kathy at MinxEats about this. She mentioned loving NEST's Holiday fragrance, her favorite of the season, but in her  office at work she can't burn candles and is not a fan of liquid ones. This could be perfect.

NEST Fragrances Holiday Gift Sets

Holiday  brings some of their best launches, but then I simply love all things holiday so I might be biased.  But let's face it, most of us all love  seasonal candles at Christmas and we also love to find and give great gifts.

There are three scents this year, their beloved Holiday, with spices like cinnamon and cloves with pine , Birchwood Pine,  a rich evergreen pine , fir and balsam  blend and NEW Sugar Cookie, a delicious enough to eat warm  , sweet vanilla and caramel laced cookies .

Joya Snarkitecture Secret Souvenir Candle

I can't decide if this is cool or  too kitschy but I like it either way .

Niche fragrance and candle house Joya  and architecture company Snarkitecture have  hidden a NYC "treasure " in  each of their Snarkitecture Secret Souvneir candles. As the candle is burned down  a Empire State Building, Chrysler Building or Statue of Liberty  statue is revealed. This would make a  cool, albeit quite  expensive  souvenir gift to a long distance Manhattan loving friend or exile .

Laura Mercier La Petite Patisserie Candle Trio

Looking for a lovely Mother's Day gift ?   Check out this candle sampler set from Laura Mercier. Yes candles have been overdone as gifts, I know, but this is different- it comes with a travel candle holder.  A nice  luxe touch , right ?

Annick Goutal Noel Candle 2012

  One of my all time favorite holiday candles is Noel from Annick Goutal. Each year they update the glass design and release it.  This year's  design is one familiar to any fan of the brand- butterflies.

New is a giant candle , giant as in 4 wicks. It comes in at 54 oz and is $ 295 for the true luxe splurge.

The normal size Noel is 5.8 oz and $65.

The Noel scent mixes citrus like mandarin along with siberian pine and is truly pretty . It's very Christmas and fresh  but not cloying or heavy. It smells like a real tree would smell  with  citrus thrown in.

Sir Elton John's Woodside Garden Candle by NEST

One of the loveliest Spring candles I've seen ( and smelled) is the new Sir Elton John's Woodside Garden candle by NEST.  Elton  has partnered with NEST before , and this new candle  is based  on the fragrant flowers growing in his garden at his Woodside estate in Old Windsor , England . I don't know about you but I  dream of being able to attend Elton's White Tie and Tiara ball he holds each June at the estate. Hey, I'd just like to hang there with Elton. We could spend hours chatting shopping, fragrance and royalty.

Since my invite has yet to arrive I can travel there via this extremely fragranced candle. The main flower I note here is hyacinth. I love the smell of hyacinth and it's very of the season.  It's a very true scent , as most NEST candles are. Bursting with beautiful flowers set in a bright green glass this is Spring. Other notes listed for the candle are freesia, rose and jasmine. It's one big Spring bouquet with hints of green.

While  we all need great candle for ourselves, think of this too , if you need a great hostess gift at Easter or further ahead to Mother's Day.

Diptyque Holiday Candles 2011

 Diptyque makes amazing candles and like so many brands holiday is the  best. At least to me. This season brings a plum, Perdigone, which should be beautiful. Years ago I was given a plum scented candle  by a different brand and it smelled so good I made it last for 2  holidays. It's not a candle scent you often see.

Also   new is  Epinette which blends Siberian Fir, Balsam, Texas Cedar and Patchouli.

Epinette comes  in a new 5 wick candle($ 275)  that will surely scent the biggest of rooms.

Both come in the tradtional mini candle $ 32 (2.4oz ), and  the classic $ 68  (6.5oz )

Balenciaga L'Essence candle

If you love the scent of Balenciaga's fragrance,  and it's a good one, then you may just want to know there is now a candle version of  the newer fragrance -L’Essence. 

L'Essence Candle by Balenciaga includes notes includes of  violet and soft mosses, so it's very different from most candle fragrances and  sounds very earthy . The silver jar with lid makes an elegant presentation  for holiday gifts too.

Salty Caramel Candle by Slatkin for Bath & Body Works

 Hands down this is one  of the best smelling candles EVER. Whether it's burning, or just sitting out, it smells so amazing. It's caramel ,vanilla , nuts and toffee. Rich and sugary  and just like what it's name implies.  It's Crunch n Munch in a candle but better.

This is part of the fall line, but there is not a time when this won't smell right. It's too delicious.  Go try it- if you smell it, you will want it.
 
I see they a have it in a room spray as well. Think that's going on the "to buy" list next trip.

 It's LE each year and available until it sells out , with 100 % of proceeds going to GlobalGreengrants Fund at http://www.greengrants.org/   which works to bring clean and safe drinking water worldwide.

 It's a great gift option and would make a nice Easter hostess gift as well as buy now and save for Mother's Day  present.

ASPCA Holiday Candles

The ASPCA has very nice looking candles for sale in their holiday online store. I haven't smelled them but the scents sound good and it's for such a great cause. For the animal lover on your gift list, check them out. Each  12 oz soy  "votive" is $ 21.99 at http://www.aspca.org/

Because it's cause dear to my heart, as an aside,  The ASPCA does so much to help animals in need , as do local shelters.  If you want to help, there are many ways. I know my local shelter is always looking for not simply monetary donations but pet food, old towels, hand sanitizer, baby wipes and so much more. Call your or hit their website  and you might just find you have these items they need so much lying around.

Also, if you are looking for a pet , please do look at your shelter or at a breed rescue. Most every breed of dog has a rescue in each state or close by . Shelters/rescues are not simply mixed breeds, not that there is anything wrong with that but as a former volunteer, I heard many times, well I want a purebred ______ and I don't think a shelter will have it. I have a  beautiful, papered German Shepherd , who was a rescue.  I have seen Borzois to St. Bernards at my  local shelter.

Slatkin & Co Holiday Scented Candles

I've raved about candles from Slatkin before. Not only do they do their own namesake line for Bath and Body Works but also the fabulous NEST and Project Art brands. All have great throw and strong, realistic scent.

For the holidays candles as a gift might be cliche but there's a reason for that- most of us love them. One of my best friends recently told me that's what to get her husband. He loves them when he is winding down after work and catching up in the office.

Slakin makes some of the best holiday candles and this year the selection is large. I am one of those who loves the smell of pine and Christmas tree pure and fresh. So I am partial right now to Evergreen and Frosted Tree. Both  get the smell right , Frosted Tree has a few more notes than" tree", including a hint of rosemary. Evergreen is more straightforward. Both are perfect. Frosted Cranberry is an old and longtime favorite. It's sweet and tangy and has some peach and strawberry in there as well.

Hit up your local Bath and Body Works for these to make last minute gift giving easy. There are several sizes and the larger ones are triple wick.
