CYO Cosmetics

CYO is a new brand just landed at Walgreens.

The line is 160 product strong and it's got all that's hot right now in beauty- metallic, contouring, highlighting as well as  foundation, bronzing oil, a  great eyeliner and more.

I've got a handful of the line here to test and so far I'm impressed . Oh and did I mention everything is $8 or less ?  Plus the packaging often recalls higher end brands.

Kohl Gel Eyeliner is deeply pigmented and glides on easily. All things we want in a liner, right ? The shade here -Highflier is a rich teal that brightens eyes and lest you think this brand is just for the youngsters ( who are the inspiration behind it), The Mom grabbed this up. ( $3.50)

Ombre Lipstick  is a two toned square bullet that gives just a slight ombre look. The formula is well pigmented and creamy .  Shown in Liquid Lunch. ( $ 5.50)

Metallic Eye Stick is a brightening, shimmering eye crayon to use  inner corners, brows or all over. It's easy to apply, creamy and wears well. Shown in Clowning Around. ($5)

Metallic Liquid Lipstick packs a lot of pigment  and is on trend as it gets right now. It feels good on lips , and just beams color.   This is one I will be grabbing more colors in. Shown in Misconduct. ( $6)

Also shown in the pics are Contour Stick, Bronzing Shimmer Oil ( in a glass bottle and only $7 ) , and Illuminating Mixing Cream.

CYO is a Boots brand ( Boots Walgreens Alliance now) and they know their way around beauty.

Maybelline Masterprecise Ink Liquid Metallic Liner

Sometimes a product totally surprises you and this new eyeliner from Maybelline has done it .

I melt most eye makeup really easily.   I mention this a lot. And I have only a few eyeliners that I can use that actually stay on my eyes for the day's duration. Many  don't make it even a few hours.

When the  Masterprecise Ink Liquid Metallic Liners landed on my desk, I thought "these are nice,  but I won't be able to use them". But I'm here to test things so I gave them a shot ( upper lid only).  They lasted all day into evening on hot , sunny days, and on unprimed eyelids the first time I tried them .

The liners are metallic but not huge sparklers.  It's not heavy glitter but definitely some shimmer. Then again I love metallic  so I am biased here. You might feel differently.

The pointed tip glides  color on easily and they can be blended or touched up before they set. They do need a good shake before using .  Some of the shades like Violet Nova and Stellar Sand seem to have lighter pigment than you'd expect and than I'd like but the darker Black Comet and Galactic metal have good color payoff.

There are seven shades in all and they are listed as waterproof , smudgeproof.

ybf Gel Us Eyes - Eyeliner Kit

ybf has us covered with eyeliners for Summer swelter with this cute new set of longwear eyeliners.

Tucked in a thin , light metal case (  I'm reminded of a vintage cigarette case) are 5  twist up ,self sharpening eyeliners. The liners are mini coming in at 3 3/4 inches long .

These are  well pigmented and gel based gliding on eyes with no tug and with the self  sharpened point easily apply  on the eyeline. They have according to the brand, reflective pearls for dimension along with being oil free and water resistant.

  I have huge issues with makeup melt  as I mention all the time. Little lasts well on my eyes. These did really good .  I did get minor smudging after about 4 hours  but most of you will get longer . I've yet to meet anyone who can smudge and wear off eye makeup like me.

The cute tin allows for these to be stashed in your weekend bag or tote to take wherever you go.  The weigh nothing and the colors are all you'd need for many looks. Included are onyx pearl, beYOUtiful bronze, cheering chocolate, stunning silver and wonderful white.

Chanel Inimitable Mascara in Vert Portofino & Horizon Stylo Yeux Eyeliner

Green is the color to make eyes pop with Chanel's Summer collection.

It's been awhile since I used a green mascara but I am glad I tried  new Vert Portofino because it looks great on me and really helped accent my green eyes even more. The color isn't super  bold green, it's just noticeable and I think that makes it very wearable .

You can pair it up with new Horizon Stylo Yeux Waterproof Eyeliner. This new liner is a gorg shade of deep blackened green.  Chanel's formula is a long wearing , making this a good pick for the warm weather to come.

My eye makeup melt is epic, I've mentioned that more than few times , right ? So many products said to be waterproof,  wear in the ocean while a wave tumbles you , budge proof etc ,never make it long on me. Others have great results, me, I watch them go poof in hours.

This liquid liner went from 8AM to 8PM on my eyelids with just a little fading. For those of you whose eye makeup stays put, that's no big. For me, it's very big. No raccoon smudges to wipe off a couple times a day, no eyes that look like they were never lined in the first place by noon.

The applicator here is thin, tapered and stiff to make a fine line and is made from flexible foam. It goes on easily and dries pretty fast but can be blended some . The shade I have Brown Glaze is a shimmering bronze brown with medium pigment. I did need two coats to get as much color as I wanted , then again this is a not a deep dark shade. For my coloring however it's perfect. I wear a lot of browns, nudes and golds on a daily basis .

Lancome Artliner-Spring 2016

Lancome 's very good Artliner liquid eyeliner debuts some new colors for Springtime.

These fine pointed liners have strong pigment, stay in place and the line glides on easily if you're not familiar with them.

New are  Jade and Amethyst( both LE), Violet. There are six permanent shades in all along with the limited ones.

Violet is a deeper plum purple where Amethyst is a bit brighter. Jade is a deep olive green . All are beautiful and I've enjoyed wearing and trying them the past couple days.

MAC Modern Twist Kajal Eyeliner

MAC's new Modern Twist Kajal eyeliners are a new self sharpening , long wear formula.

These glide on easily with little drag or pull. You can get a nice line quickly but with my darkest shade here, Groundbreaker I need two passes to get the deepest color payoff ( shown is one coat) . The lighter shade, Nothing On is a one swipe liner.

They have a nice feel, silky and soft but not greasy . They can be used for the waterline as well , which I haven't tried. For the eyelid, love them. I like a liner that goes on easily without muss or fuss. I also love the wide range of thirteen (permanent) colors including three versions of black.

These do wear fairly long as well. I had no smudges through the day and very few liners last that well on me. There was some fading after 4-5 hours though.

L'Oreal Matte Matic Infallible Eye Pencil

L'Oreal has a lot of new launches and among them is this new matte eyeliner in the Infallible line.

Matte Matic is a creamy  matte liner in a mechanical pencil with  a gel -cream formula . The liner glides on and over eyes easily and there is time to blend before it sets .  The thin pencil makes a nice even, thin line , is well pigmented and lasts really well.  A great addition to the eyeliner lineup and a perfect everyday use pick.

Shade shown is Matte Navy . There are four other colors available and sugg, retail is $ 8.99

Lancome Drama Liqui -Pencil

A pencil with the soft smoothness of a liquid ?  I'll take it. I'll admit me and liquid pencils are iffy .

Lancome's fabulous new  Drama Liqui Pencil helps solve that.  It's a super soft pencil that glides right over eyes . It's easy to use as well as being long wear.  And for early morning? We need that.  Or at least I do.

 Despite the softness of the pencil once it's on it stays really well and  on me that's the most important part of an eye pencil. With my eye makeup melt I need something that doesn't smudge down my eyes and there are few that make that grade.  Drama Liqui does .

The one downside to all that softness is the tip wears down with a few strokes. It smushes easily .  I'm willing to deal for all the other benefits here.

Clinique Skinny Sticks Eyeliners

Chubby works well for lips and cheeks but what about liner? Well that's where skinny comes in.

After a hugely successful run of Chubby Sticks , new from Clinique are Skinny Stick eyeliners. These self sharpening liners are super skinny for easy , tight to the line application with long wear time.

They are fairly creamy but do have a bit of drag  and I went over the line twice to get the fullest color payoff I wanted.

For getting a quick tight line whether at the waterline or above you can't beat the size of this liner . The super skinny size makes them a great travel companion as well. You could stash multiples in a bag without taking up any room.

Shown is Olive -Tini  and there are eight colorful shades in all.

YSL Couture Kajal 3 in1 Kohl Eyeliner- Fall 2015

Part two of  a look at YSL Fall is the new Couture Kajal 3 in 1 Kohl Eyeliner . ( Metal Clash Eye Palette here )

I love just looking at these. They are so chic and stylish. Once the lid is off, you get a deep pigmented eyeliner.   Couture Kajal pencils apply smoothly without any tug and can make a thin line or a thicker one or  use as eye shadow.

These are long wear and have done well on me.YSL says up to 12 hour wear. Unless you count the time I tried them , went into the pool in  95 degree temps with blasting humidity.  Don't try that at home.

These are self sharpening and YSL recommends applying with the side to keep the point sharp.  That might be easier said than done, but I love the sharp point so we'll try.

There are four shades, all shown except black ( N°1 Noir Ardent ). There are two blues and a gorg blackened green .

MAC Technakohl Eyeliners - New Shades

Love colored eyeliners? Then the new Tecnakohls from MAC will be right up your alley.

Available on Nov. 28 (exclusively at Macy's until Dec. 11)  will be 26 new shades . That's a whopping liner launch . Personally I can't enough of  liners like this and I want them all. I love that beige  and bronze are well represented.

Charlotte Tilbury Makeup Debut

Charlotte Tilbury

 One of the most hotly anticipated makeup lines of the year  is finally available , at least online, beginning this week.

Charlotte Tilbury is a renowned makeup artist who does fashion shows, editorial and loads of celebrities .  Kate Moss, Gisele, and Kate Winslet are clients and /or friends of hers.

She wants to make make makeup easy for anyone and so in addition to individual products you can buy a whole look i.e Rock Chick or Uptown Girl.

Her Magic Cream, something she created and used backstage for years is considered a cult product in Europe  and will be part of the line as well.  I want to try it all but most look forward to her Rock N' Kohl eyeliners. Tilbury is known for a well lined eye and these new liners are liquid pencils with all day wear.

NARS Baalbek Eye Paint- Summer 2014

 Lost Coast Eye Duo was last weeks' feature from NARS Summer collection and now it's Baalbek's Eye Paint 's turn.


I really like NARS Eye Paints in general , and this deep bronze is no exception. I adore all things bronze, metallic, golden  and Baalbek is all of these.  It's quite dark on the eyes , looking more rich brown  than bronze but hints comes through along with a little of the sparkle.

Baalbek ( $ 25)  along with the entire NARS Adult Swim Summer line will be available on April 15th.
