Good Gifting with Robert Verdi

Last week I had a chat with the always endearing and funny Robert Verdi about gifts and gifting. Ok, mostly we gabbed about shopping and our dogs  but at some point we did get down to some  gift talk.

One topic- how to make a gift more personalized. Robert feels that often people think  personalizing gifts will take  up more time or more money , but he says, that doesn't have to be the case.

In his recent Tweet This Twitter party one gift vessel was a lacquer Container Store box  filled with a  Moleskine  appointment book and Parker pen.  He said this gift can easily be adapted to any budget. Hit up a Hallmark store or similar and grab a calendar book, and pick a nice pen  from anywhere, Target etc., making sure to remove it from the package ( My pick here- the Stainless Steel Sharpie).  Put them together in the box with tissue and you're done.

Robert also says , take that same box in multiples and tailor it to your giftee. You can do makeup for the glam gal, or fill the whole box with Hershey Kisses ( I loved this idea) and take it in as the gift for the whole office to enjoy.  For the guys how about filling a tool box  with Gillette  Fusion razors and shave cream along  with soap or shower gel.

The takeaway- you can buy the boxes ( any nice box, you can find them everywhere from drugstores to craft stores) ,  line them up and fill as you find  the items for each person. Put a bow on it and  gift.

Robert Verdi's Holiday Gift Guide Video

Super funny video  from one of my fav people- Robert Verdi. While you're laughing you 'll also get a look at his holiday gift guide and  his celeb inspired gift ideas.

I am partial especially to the Cindy Crawford One Kiss Diamond jewelry( because we should all be partial to diamonds).  He shows the earrings in the video, also available is this cute necklace in color enhanced black or white diamonds .

Next favorite is the FujiFilm Instax camera. I have one of these and I can tell you it's FUN. For those who remember Polaroids, it's  blast from the past you will enjoy , and for those who don't, it will be a  cool discovery.

Fashion Week Spring 2010 Wrap Up

Another fashion season's shows wrapped and there's still a few things left to show and tell.

1. Trends in makeup- It's about peach for Spring. Peach lips and peach cheeks. The new Lancome Pout a Porter in Chris and Tell is just one pretty possibility along with a new peach blush. Both are coming in Spring line. Deeper, matted pink lips were big as well.

2. Robert Verdi is a nice guy with a cute dog( Winky) He and his team are always so welcoming and host an awesome spot for the fashion ladies ( and men) to take a break .

3. I had to share this picture of the hair at Rebecca Taylor. A bow, so lovely and origami like. Love. ( Style was done by Cutler salon for Redken).

4. Maybelline was the new makeup sponsor at Bryant Park and did plenty of shows. I loved this new nail polish one of their artists posted called Mocha Bling. Speaking of nails, dark is still in.

5. Stephane Marais did the makeup at Zac Posen. That was a wow. The makeup wasn't earth shattering, but it was pretty. And it's not too often you see Marais doing shows, at least not on this side of the Atlantic.

6. If not for Pop Chips, everyone would have starved. They were luckily almost everywhere and people were inhaling them . Sometimes thats all you had for hours and with usually only a half minute to eat, they are user friendly.

7. MAC ruled at Milk Studios. Great space , nice people. I hope they do it again.
