MAC is in the cushion compact foundation game with the launch of Matchmaster Shade Intelligence Compact. Popular in Asia , this type of foundation has been getting more popular here over the past year.
Cushion Compacts , if you haven't tried one yet, are foundations in pot compact underneath a cushion. You push down on that cushion with a sponge , fingers or brush and grab the foundation to apply.
MAC's Matchmaster Compact is a lightweight fluid like most cushions. It applies easily for a sheer to light/medium finish that is buildable. This is the type of foundation that lets skin breathe and peek through while giving a soft , slightly dewy more natural look. It's less sheer than I expected , which to me is a good thing. I like more coverage and was happy that this was a step above sheer .
I have shade 1.5 here which is the next to lightest. It ended up being a tiny bit dark for me, but I am always between shades it seems. Matchmaster Shade Intelligence Compact comes in 12 shades , so there is a wide range, as MAC usually does.
If you are looking for a light , lightweight feeling foundation that covers without heaviness , this is one to explore. As usual MAC does a great job.
** Note, the sponge gets messy fast and when you have to try something right away, before you take your photos, well the above images are what you get. Less editorial, more tried and tested. Real world results right ?
MAC Matchmaster Shade Intelligence Compact is $ 36

I just tried the AmorePacific version and was underwhelmed. Does the MAC one have any scent? I kind of can't deal with the latex paint smell of Face and Body.
Hi Poppy, I don't recall it having a lot of scent. I don't have it handy at my desk right now but it didn't seem too strong. Face & Body is a more unique formula so maybe that's why it's got that odor? Good luck if you try it. Let me know :)
