Algenist Splash Hydrating Setting Mist

Setting Mists are one of things that I  often skip and when I do use one  I always think why haven't I been doing this more often? You don't know how good they are until you use one .

New from one of my fav skincare brands, Algenist, is Splash Hydrating Setting Mist using sea water and fruit extracts like watermelon and apple.

The hydrating part of the name scared me a bit, I like a little extra moisture but nothing that will make me oily or overly dewy. At the same time my skin is a little drier in Winter  and I want to avoid any makeup caked spots.  No worries here as this is a light mist that feels fabulous on.  It adds  a touch of moisture  with a cool , soothing feeling on skin. It sets right away , sinking into skin with a subtle watery floral scent.

It definitely helps to take away any of that cakiness that comes along with drier Winter skin and sets makeup too, for better all day wear.

It can be used on bare skin and re-applied  during the day. Since it feels refreshing I'll be spraying it a couple times a day.  Busy days or 50 mph winds like we're supposed to have tomorrow make this a keeper deskside.

Algenist Splash Hydrating Setting Mist is $ 35 at Ulta, Sephora  and Algenist.com

Full ingredient list:
Water, Pentylene Glycol, Parachlorella Beijerinckii Exopolysaccharides, Codium Fragile Extract, Coccoloba Uvifera Fruit Extract, Porphyridium Cruentum Extract, Nannochloropsis Oculata Extract, Enteromorpha Compressa Extract, Pullulan, Sea Water (Maris Aqua), Citrullus Lanatus (Watermelon) Fruit Extract, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Lens Esculenta (Lentil) Fruit Extract, Pyrus Malus (Apple) Fruit Extract, Magnesium Aspartate, Zinc Gluconate, Copper Gluconate, Adenosine, Sodium Lactate, Biosaccharide Gum-4, Butylene Glycol, Sodium PCA, Glycerin, Propanediol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Hexylene Glycol, Caprylyl Glycol, Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Benzoate, Chlorphenesin, Phenoxyethanol, Fragrance.

Algenist Elevate Firming & Lifting Contouring Serum/ Eye Cream

We'll call this a dynamic duo. Just in time for me to work seriously on my skin as I usually do in Winter, come these two new from Algenist .

As I get older , I see more of a need for lifting and firming. I know no cream is going to change my skin dramatically and suddenly lift everything where it was 10 years ago but I also know that good skincare is a step in the right direction and can help. So I have been applying the Elevate Serum almost every night for weeks.

Both eye cream and serum have  Alguronic Acid and ProPeptide3 along with gold and apple extract, all things we have been told are tops for skin.  I like that  it's lightly moisturizing, just right for my normal  skin and not heavy.  I can add a moisturizer over it if needed, but for me , just this is  usually  enough. It has a light feel  and sinks in well.

I feel like my skin looks more clarified and smoother so far.  I am especially into putting this alongside my mouth , those darn marionette lines, that I have just started to notice.   They seem a bit better and I'll take it.

The one odd thing here is that the serum does some tiny shimmer to it. I use it mainly at night and I need no shimmer then but for day it would be ok. It is very subtle.

The eye cream  has a lot of moisture but also feels  light on. It's great for these cold  temps to use day and night to soothe  and smooth eye area skin as well as add some firming.

Algenist Elevate Firming & Lifting Contouring Serum is $ 108

Best Of Algenist Collection

With winter truly here in the Northeast and already going in many places it's time to get our skincare routing in gear for cold temps.  One easy way is with Algenist's Best of set, a one stop box for all your skin needs.

With this set you get large sizes of Gentle Rejuvenating Cleanser, Advanced Anti -Aging Repairing Oil and Firming and Lifting Cream along with a small jar of their Genius Anti Aging Eye Cream.

I've had good luck with Algenist products and Genius eye cream is one of my favorites. I like the cleanser here a lot as well ,  but haven't yet tried the other two products.

You get a lot in this set, I like that it's not all travel size, they should last well through Winter .

Algenist Repairing Tint & Radiance Moisturizer

Algenist makes some great skincare , now they have their first tinted moisturizer. Repairing Tint & Radiance Moisturizer combines skincare , tint and SPF in one.

This a thicker cream , not thin or liquid . The coverage is light  but definitely there. It  perfects and smoothes . It makes a great base or you can wear it alone. There are three shades light , light/ medium and medium. None are overly dark and all blend well.

Medium, Light
This has a light feel on skin, even though it is not oil free , there is no greasy feel. It has just enough moisture , you'll need a moisturizer if you have normal to dry skin, anyone slightly oily or combo can use it  on it's own, which is how I've been using it.

Algenist says this will , over time, help to even skin tone in 10 days. I've gotten to three so far. The formula has the brand's Micro Algae Oil  in it .

The SPF is 30 both chemical and physical with titanium dioxide at 2.46 %.

I like much of Algenist's line, and this is no exception.  The texture, coverage and lightweightness make it great for any skin type , including those of us who are a little oily. If you're looking for a new TM to try and with Spring coming, get your SPF on, this is one to try.

Algenist Repairing Tint & Radiance Moisturizer is $ 42 at  Sephora , QVC , Ulta and www.algenist.com

Algenist Genius Ultimate Anti-Aging Eye Cream

I'm a fan of Algenist's skincare in general and I really like their Genius Face Cream . Last winter it was in the rotation a lot for it's light  soothing feeling with strong hydration along with anti -aging ingredients.

Now there is a Genius Eye Cream.   I don't know about you but as soon as it got just  a little bit colder, my eye area began to get drier and I needed a little heavier cream.  Now if only I could my T -Zone to cooperate.

Algenist Genius Eye is much like the face cream- a light feeling , hydrating cream. It has a gel -cream bouncy consistency and sinks in  pretty fast. It will work well day and night , and not being  a heavy moisturizer , makeup goes over it well .

Ingredients include Persian Silk Tree Extract for firming , Shea Butter for moisture and the brand's patented Alguronic Acid, which has among other things a micro algae oil and a plant  based collagen.

I can't say how well it reduces lines, as I've only used it less than a week. But we all know moisture is a big help to keep them at bay, and /or make them look less defined. So this works on that front.

Algenist Genius Ultimate Anti -Aging Eye Cream is $ 72 at Sephora and QVC.

Algenist Algae Brightening Mask

I'm very iffy with masks. I know they can do great things but rarely want to be bothered. For years I used clay masks for my oily skin, not often enough and every time I did use one, I wondered why I didn't more often.

So when this new mask from a fav skincare brand Algenist landed in the inbox , at first I was meh. Then I read the ingredients and when I saw salicylic and lactic acids ,  kaolin and bentonite along with all the antioxidants, I was  sold. I knew it should then be very exfoliating along with being good for the blackheads/oily parts too.

Can I say I'm really glad I gave it a test ? After using this my already pretty smooth  skin felt so much more smoother and soft.  My nose pores looked a little more cleaned out and shrunk as well. Score.

It is as you can see a kind of ick green color and yes, you look green while it's on and there is a not fabulous plant smell but there are also results.

Algenist Pore Corrector Anti-Aging Primer

Something to help make pores disappear? Banish the oilies,  oh I'll try that.  Algenist's new Pore Corrector Anti -Aging Primer is said to help with all of that and more.

I've had the chance to try  some of the Algenist line in the past and have always come away impressed. I love their UV Defense  and the Lifting Eye Gel is what I'll be using again partly this summer as it's especially nice for warm weather.

The Pore Corrector does  help perfect skin and  smooth out those pores. It gives a nice finish as a primer.  It does have a lot of slip and I feel it a bit more on my skin than I'd like , but that's me.You may feel different. They say it has a satin finish and  would agree with that.   It does to help  keep the oil at bay longer in the T- Zone. Not all day
, because in the heat there is nothing that I am aware of that  does that on me. Please. But it helps.

This is a nice primer to use under matte foundation to keep your face looking fresher all day. It also has the  Alguronic Acid proprietary to the brand along with fruit and flower extracts. To fight oil/acne there is salicyclic acid and willow bark extract, to hydrate there is squalene and glycerin.

Algenist Pore Corrector Anti-Aging Primer is $ 42 at  Sephora

Algenist Ultra Lightweight UV Defense Fluid SPF 50

Happily this has been the summer of great SPFs for oily skin. Last year brought some great ones too, so to have as wide a choice as we now do is super.

Newest on the sunscreen block is one from skincare line Algenist- Ultra Lightweight UV Defense Fluid.  The name kind of says it all, it is lightweight and has a high SPF. What I like about it is that while it's light, the formula is  a little thicker than most of my others and I think , and this may be just me, that it makes it stick to skin even better. It still sinks right in and isn't noticeable on skin .  It also does nicely at  keeping skin  matte  and makes a good base.

Algenist's chief ingredient in their skincare is Alguronic acid and that's in here as well.  Alguronic acid is found in micro algae and is said to help cell regeneration and fight aging.

UV Defense is oil free and basically non hydrating. There is a little, enough for someone like me with oily skin  in this hot weather. If you are dry to normal you may need more moisture.  It is broad spectrum containing 2% titanuim dioxide,  17.1 %  zinc oxide and 7.5 % octinoxate.  The liquid is white , but it goes on clear, blending right in.

Botanical ingredients include Echinacea, Uva Ursi , Camellia Leaf and Licorice Root extracts.

Available exclusively at  www.sephora.com  for $ 38.00 for 1oz .

Algenist Firming and Lifting Eye Gel

Algenist's new Firming and Lifting Eye Gel was my intro to the brand. I'd heard good things but hadn't yet tried anything.  Founded by a biotechnology lab in San Francisco, the line uses their discovery,  patent pending Alguronic Acid,  which comes from sea algae that they found to be regenerative to skin.

As intro's go, it was a good one.  For one thing, the eye cream/serum search is always on. I have a couple favorites right now but I am always happy to find new and great ones .

Algenist delivers on the firming .  After applying you feel a little tightening on the eye area. Not a lot and nothing unconfortable, but just enough so that you feel  it's working. It's lightly moisturizing , feels great on the eyes and is very refreshing.  This makes it especially nice for day use  but the refreshing factor is nice on  tired eyes  at night as well.

Other ingredients include ProPeptide which combines peptides and the proteins of elastin, collagen and proteoglycans, chamomile and alfalfa , both known to be anti -inflammatory as well as caffeine.

I can see that this will be my summer eye gel. It's not too heavy for hot days but just enough .  Sticking it in the fridge will make it even better.

The Firming and Lifting Eye Gel is $ 68 and exclusive to www.sephora.com
