Ray Ban Wayfarer Sunglasses are making a comeback in a big way. Starting today Henri Bendel and project Colorize are launching art with them in it( planning to stop traffic in NY with one) , and having an in store promo to see the new colored frames and pick which works best for you.
Now once upon a time, I desperately wanted a pair of Wayfarers. Couldn't afford them then, but eventually when they were less stylish I finally got my pair about 11 years ago. I could care less whether they were the "in" thing in sunglasses, and wore and wear them happily. They are me, and thats good enough.
They were of course for many of those years very out. No one wore or wanted them. I was glad to be unique. So while I am glad too see everyone coming around again( mostly those who weren't old enough to want them years ago) I liked doing my own thing. Now everyone will be wearing them. Paris Hilton has already been seen in them but a Brit paper did an article trashing their comeback, so who knows?
What I do know is that I will wear mine either way. Thats them in bright blue trim in the pic. ( yes mine are even cooler to me, since they have color). No sunglasses will ever top these in my heart. If you want some of these hipster glasses here's the info from the Bendel event:

I never thought I looked good in Wayfarers. I think you have to have the right shaped face. BUT I am always inspired when I hear "Boys of Summer." I think about riding in my convertible with my Wayfarers on. They were very trendy in the 80s. They are still cool. Love the colors!
