It's hot out there and we have plenty of Summer to go. That means sunscreen is a must and the stronger the better. I don't know about where you live, but the sun here has been stronger than ever.
Australian Gold has a new formula out this year to help keep skin from the burn. It's also reef friendly, meaning the ingredients won't damage the oceans if you happen to be sunbathing in or on a beach area. It's scary and a shame how much damage is being done to coral reefs .
According to the EWG, an estimated 25 to 60 million bottles worth of sunscreen chemicals wash off into coral reef areas each year. When we shower, these chemicals wash off our skin and can pollute wastewater that ends up in the ocean as well.( quote from Australian Gold).
The brand's new Botanical Sunscreen Mineral Lotion comes in SPF 30 and 50 and is free of Oxybenzone, Parabens, Phthalates, Petrolatum, PABA, SLS, Dyes and Oils. It uses physical SPF with titanium dioxide and zinc oxide and has vitamin E , kakadu plum for vitamin C and red algae for vitamin A and amino acids.
It's very light feeling lotion that doesn't feel greasy and has a slight white cast at first that goes away once you fully rub it in. Once on , you barely know it's there and it holds up well in water ( water resistant up to 80 minutes per label).
Australian Gold Botanical Sunscreen Mineral Lotion is $14.99; SPF30 - Ulta.com, SPF 50-Ulta.com , CVS, Walmart)
