The Little Book of Self Care for the Signs of the Zodiac

Self care , it's a catchphrase at the moment, but really it's also a good thing. We all need to take a little down time to regroup, decompress or just plain relax.

Astrologer Constance Stellas has written a little book tailored to  each of the signs of the zodiac .  The beginning has a bit about the particular sign in the book, then goes on to detail a new way to step outside your box, wind down, renew  or do something fun new on each page.  None of these will be new to you most likely, I think most of us have a good idea how to self care we simply don't do it often enough. But the book is cute and it's nice to have them all in one place, a quick reminder guide.

More than anything the  book makes a fun "extra" gift. Coming at 6 1/2 inches by 4/12 inches it easily tucks into each bridesmaid's gift bag or Attach a spa or salon gift card to it for a friend or family. You get the idea.

I , do, however, have one bone to pick here, and that's the use of "his/him" when the book mentions a Sagittarius ( see page 119 ). I feel confident that this book is far more geared towards women than men and it should be "she/hers" , am I right? Otherwise it's a fun little read.

The Little Book of Self Care- Simple Ways to Refresh and Restore - According to the Stars is $12.99 at Amazon and Barnes and Noble and  is published by Adams Media/ Simon & Schuster.

Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Ultra Fine Mist

The heat is really on ( it's 113F heat index here today) and a light misting of something that feels and smells good is perfect this time of  year. And what says Summer more than watermelon?

New from Glow Recipe is Watermelon Glow Mist.  This bi phase mist has actual teeny pieces of watermelon ( the ingredients list is as having 84% of the fruit ) along with hyaluronic acid and rice germ oil . It adds a very light boost of moisture and is a fine misting spray that sets makeup or gives a boost but won't leave you wet or dewy looking.

It does smells fabulous , like real watermelon, but not strong and the scent doesn't linger too long. It's also got shimmering particles in there. The shimmer is barely there , adds a bit of that glow in the name but no glitter fest.

I've been carrying it in my bag since it arrived so I can use it daily. I also often give a few quick spritzes on my way out the door in the AM.  Shake well and off you go.

Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Mist is $ 28 at Sephora  and Glow Recipe.com

Guerlain Terracotta Touch Loose Powder To Go

Terracotta Touch Loose Powder To Go is part of this year's Terracotta collection and this  finely milled bronzing powder is the bomb.

I am iffy with bronzers even though I love that glowing tanned look and this has been perfection on. It's lightweight, matte but does have a sheen. It's not full on shimmer so it doesn't settle into or accentuate lines. I have Medium and the shade isn't very dark so you don't look muddy or super tan.  More a golden beige that definitely adds some color on my pale self, enough for that aforementioned glowing look but not enough to look fake, too deep or overdone . I look brightened , boosted. Tan works for me , tanning obvs not so much. This is the next best thing.  According to the brand it has " A unique combination of corrective mattifying beads and radiance-revealing flakes ".

The container has  a sponge atop the powder jar to apply with after you shake the powder into it, and you can dab and blend with that but a brush also works well and is what I mainly use .

Check out my Insta post too

Guerlain Terracotta Touch comes in Medium and Deep and is $ 56

IT CosmeticsYour Skin But Better Primer Oil Free

There's a new primer in town from IT Cosmetics .

Your Skin But Better Primer is oil free & helps makeup stay put with what the brand calls " All Day Grip Technology " . With my makeup melt issues that sounded good .

The first thing I noticed is that it's a clear primer. Most primers I've used are milky or tinted. It's a totally clear and a thin formula that layers on skin easily with a barely there feel. Not silicone-y, or greasy. It sinks in fast & adds a small amount of moisture. For me with my oilier skin in Summer it was just right in the moisture department , enough but nothing heavy. It also smooths out skin nicely and does fill pores a little . Skin looks more prepped and ready for makeup.

Overall I find this to be a nice base layer and my makeup has held up well using this so far. It's not a huge difference (again I have big makeup melt issues, I can wear off almost anything) but there is a  difference. Midday everything still looks in place and by evening makeup was faded a little but not that much.

I really like that's it's so light you don't even notice it yet it works.

IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better  Primer Oil Free is $ 39 .

Lime Crime Sunkissed Face Palette

Looking for a perfect Summer glow palette ?  Lime Crime has got you.

This is my first time trying the brand although I've admired it from afar for awhile.  And let me tell you, this palette is a beauty.  There are six shades in shimmer and matte to give you the best Summer glow. It's also wake up makeup. Or perk up after a loong day.

Don't be scared by the brights either. I admit I was at first. I loved the orange shade in the lower left but thought can I wear it ?  Yes. It is bright but the powder is fine and easily blended. Just use  a light hand and quick dusting across it if you're pale like me. On darker skins it should look amazing. The Yellow Gold is a little much for me but again it's not as bold on as it looks in the palette.

The Shimmers  are silky feeling and that makes them wear nicely and settle into lines etc too much. A  dusting of one of the lighter shades all over my face is such an instant brightener.  Sun Daze, upper right, is just enough of a non bronze  warmed up color boost , while Bask is the perfect not too deep all over bronzer.  Then I use Sizzle and Malibu as  blush.  In all of the shades  pigments are rich so you don't need a  lot on your brush and they all blend together nicely, so I often dip my brush in one then into another to mix.

This is sized well for packing. Not small but not huge. 6 1/4 x 4 3/4 inches.

Lime Crime Sunkissed Palette is $44 at Lime Crime,  Ulta  , Nordstrom.
