Pamella Roland Fall 2013 Preview

Fall fashion week is almost here and yes we may not be in Spring yet, but the winter looks will be going down runways soon. Not too worry if you're not ready. They /fall won't hit stores until late summer.

Sneak previews are coming in and one is from a favorite- Pamella Roland. She does the kind of evening gowns you see go down the red carpet and has dressed many a big celeb. It's pretty to the max. Roland says she was inspired by "the ornate interior of the winter palace in St. Petersburg, Russia ", which is my kind of inspiration.

The designer also got the emerald color of the year memo with this  green  gown.

These are  pre show sketches, the real deal happens in a week.

New York Fashion Week Nail Trends S/S '13 W/ essie, CND, butterLondon & Maybelline

It's time to talk nails and fashion week, specifically nails at fashion week. Nails backstage are as big a deal as makeup and hair  and even MAC became a full fledged nail color provider for this season's runways.  The looks were sometimes unique, sometimes not so. So what are the trends ? The pale, nude, barely there nail, nail art  were the big ones.  And  there were  just a few instances of bold jewel tone colors.

Keep in mind , as trends, these may or may not  be what everyone wants to wear next season. Pale nails are always at shows, but this season they landed at more than half the shows. Many designers simply didn't want nails competing with the colors of the clothes, which makes sense. So here's a breakdown of what Spring nails on the runway looked like.

The pale nail was literally everywhere , in every shade. Clear with matte  topcoats, pearl, beige, rosey beige, nude , blush, even white.

At Brood butter London created a custom tan polish that will be released next year.

essie used Fed Up at Tory Burch and DKNY, BBF Best Boyfriend at Herve Leger , Au Naturel at Helmut Lang and  Minimalistic at Costello Tagliapietra.

Maybelline  went nude at Rachel Zoe using Born With It , Porcelain Party and Sweet Clementine. Born With It was also used at Cushnie et Ochs .

CND wasn't just  doing  art, they too did the pale using Putty at Victoria Beckham and Pink Li at BCBG.

Nail art is still going very strong and when the nail artists got creative, they got really creative as shown at Diego Binetti where  CND's  Heather Reynosa-Davis designed oyster shell-inspired  nails including an actual pearl using assorted CND Colours in Tropic Coral, Flamingo Feather, Rouge Red and Blackjack.  

CND also created what they called Medievel looking nails at Rodarte
using Suede Frosting, Cream  Chocolate milk in custom made crisscrossing strips.

Maybelline for Carlos Miele

In keeping with the nail art trend , I hear Maybelline will have Color Strips coming out at years end ,  and L'Oreal has them in Europe so we may see them here soon as well.

And then there was color. Metallic gold as seen on Carlos Miele by Maybelline using Bold Gold, at Lela Rose with essie's Good as Gold  and deep green at Mathieu Mirano thanks to essie Going Incognito and Stroke of Brilliance.

TRESemme for Jenny Packham Spring 2013

One of my favorite hair looks  from the Spring fashion week just past was this twisted side ponytail by TRESemme for Jenny Packham.  It's a neat look and a little different. The runways were ruled by low ponytails, sleek straight hair and messy  natural waves, so this stands out some.

Packham, a UK designer who you may know is favored by The Duchess of Cambridge among others, showed a gorgeous collection. I wouldn't be surpised at all to see several of the looks snapped up by the Duchess.

The hair , created by Jeanie Syfu, is inspired by '60s Vegas which  is a great  reference and the makeup here was done by Talis Shobrook for  Laura Mercier including a hot  mod orange lip in  the line's new Creme Lipcolor called, Tangerine.

Hair How-To:

1. Start by applying TRESemmé Climate Control Mousse throughout towel-dried hair and blow dry through with a Mason Pearson brush
2. Create a deep side part on the left side that runs from the forehead to the hairline at the nape of the neck
3. Gently back brush the hair to create texture and spray with TRESemmé 24 Hour Body Finishing Spray
4. Smooth out the surface of the hair with a brush and push hair on the right side of the part so that it sweeps over the forehead to just above right ear
5. While still holding this section of hair, twist the section inwards to create a loose twist that runs down the hairline on the right side to the nape of the neck, securing with pins as you go
6. Finish the twist on the left side of the nape and brush all hair back into a low ponytail. Fasten with an elastic
7. Spritz the ends of the ponytail with TRESemmé Thermal Creations Heat Tamer Spray and use a blow dryer and Mason Pearson brush to soften the style

MAC for Catherine Malandrino Spring'13- New Products

The look for Catherine Malandrino  by James Kaliardos was  ethereal , icy and beautiful. It also included  many new products from MAC including an eyeshadow from one of the Archie's Girls Palettes (  There is one that is shades of purple). Other new products - Mineralize Rich Lipstick, Mineralize  Moisture Fluid Foundation  and more. All new have asterisks next to them.

**MINERALIZE MOISTURE FLUID SPF 15 FOUNDATION (AVAILABLE SPRING/SUMMER 2013)-blended over the middle of the face with 190 Foundation Brush, taking care to manipulate both a light and dark shade for dimension.

BRIGHT FORECAST AND RADIANT ROSE PREP + PRIME HIGHLIGHTERS —
used to conceal and perfect as needed.

**GOLDEN ELIXIR STROBE LIQUID (AVAILABLE SPRING/SUMMER 2013) —
applied over the contours of the face with 190 Foundation Brush for a "Madonna cheek-effect."

LUNA CREAM COLOUR BASE —
blended over the high planes of the face with fingers, including the following areas: centre of forehead into the brow, bridge of nose, upper cheekbone and bow of lip, creating a triangular shape.

**POISED POWDER BLUSH (AVAILABLE SPRING/SUMMER 2013) — swept through the temples towards the hairline for a warm contour.

Lashes are curled and left bare.
**MUST HAVE BROWN FROM SPRING ’13 FORECAST/EYES (AVAILABLE SPRING/SUMMER 2013) — used with 252 Large Shader Brush to blend through the crease to contour.

**CHEERS MY DEAR PIGMENT (AVAILABLE SPRING/SUMMER 2013) — applied with 219 Pencil Brush through the upper and lower lashline, blending towards the inner corner of the eye spilling onto the nose.

**SPOILED RICH EYE SHADOW FROM ARCHIE’S GIRLS (AVAILABLE SPRING/SUMMER 2013) — used with 275 Medium Angled Shading Brush to lift the outer crease of the eye by blending upwards to the brow while keeping the shape straight to elongate.

**LUCKY IN LOVE PIGMENT (AVAILABLE SPRING/SUMMER 2013), CORN FLOWER PIGMENT, OR M·A·C PRO PINK PEARL PIGMENT — used in place of Spoiled Rich Eye Shadow on a need-to basis in order to reflect the colours in the collection.

**LUXE NATURALE MINERALIZE LIPSTICK (AVAILABLE SPRING/SUMMER 2013) — applied over the entire lip.

Thakoon Spring 2012- The Birdcage Dress

The birdcage dress that Thakoon sent down the runway is the one that has got much of the fashion world buzzing. It's simply  gorgeous.   Thakoon used  bird prints throughout the collection  and they really work, though none match that birdcage. This one went right to the top of almost everyones wish list.

NARS for Alexander Wang Spring 2013 w/New Products

NARS did my kind of blush at  Alexander Wang. Aside from the amazing boots he sent down the runway , this blush, in Zen,  was what kept catching my eye. Overall the look is otherwise minimalwith fresh  , glowing skin . A look  we're seeing a lot of so far this week.

 NARS  is also using several new products backstage and used here were  new Radiant Creamy Concealer and Light Reflecting Setting Powder. Both will be out Spring 2013.

MAC Spring Sneak Peek NYFW- Mineralize Rich Lipstick

 

The sneak peeks at new makeup are starting to appear at New York Fashion Week.  First up is Mineralize Rich Lipstick from MAC due in Spring/Summer 2013 . 

The color used in the gorgeous Costello Tagliapietra show is called Lady At Play. Thats's all the info for now, but it looks smashing on the model, no ?
