MAC Pro Longwear Pressed Powder

If you're me , oily and perspiring in the heat, you are a powder fan. You might be too.  It's a must when the oil gets going or after a long day when touch ups are needed but no time to desire to redo the whole makeup job.


MAC's Pro Longwear Pressed has been making that a lot easier since I started using it  a couple weeks ago. It's  not new, but new to me  as somehow despite being the huge MAC fan I am, I had never tried it.  And I am all for anything long wear.

There are  a couple things that set this powder apart from some of the  others I use. It doesn't seem to settle into fine lines or accentuate them ( now that I am a little older I have to worry about that), but rather smoothes over skin ,  even after a work day , making it look perfected again.  No dryness, no cake. It also has coverage. Light to medium .   On the weekend when I needed to do a quick store run and didn't feel like doing all my makeup, I patted this on over my SPF moisturizer and  was ready to go .   I had good coverage with minimal effort.  I am not a tinted moisturizer and go kinda gal, I need more than that and this got it done.

Of course longwear is the main point here,  and it does hold up well. I will still get some oil breakthrough on my nose  but nothing stops that. Everywhere else looks good. It also does well at smoothing over pores.

MAC Extra Dimension Blush

New MAC Extra Dimension Blushes are finally here. I've always used the Extra Dimension Skinfinish as blush as well as highlighter. I love them. These new blushes? Easy to love too. They seem better than the last version , at least in my opinion. 

What's unique here is the seamless finish . These It don't sit on skin nor accentuate lines or dryness like some high,semi metallic shimmers can.  They blend right into skin with a good flush of color and shimmer but in a lit from within , more subtle way. 

Blending them out is easy and you don't need to worry about overdoing it as the pigment is medium/full and doesn't go on heavily meaning they are also buildable .

MAC Metallic Lips

I love a metallic lip and suddenly after so much  matte ( not my fav but I try) metallic is in again. Happy , happy beauty blogger here.

MAC's new lippie line Metallic Lips is chock full of every color you could want including a beautiful looking emerald green called Zerocool.  I'm not game to wear that on my lips, but if you are it's a looker.

There are eighteen new shades in all and the formula is of course sparkly but also more a  semi matte or satin finish. No high gloss, super shiny look. So you get the shimmer but it's not as in your face as another formula might have been. I've been wearing mine all day this past week.  These are creamy but I do notice that they will settle into drier spots just a  bit. My lips are still chapped at times since it's still cool off and on  so I apply a little balm during the day  and  a good dab of Scrubtious in the evenings.

MAC Crystal Glaze Gloss- Work It Out Collection

Part of MAC's '80s vibe Work It Out collection are new Crystal Glaze glosses. It's A Great Feeling from the Kabuki collab back in January was my top pick from that collection, and now we have six new shades.

Crystal Glaze Gloss is a lightweight , moisturizing gloss that isn't sticky or tacky and imparts sheer color. These look like jelly in the pots, almost too pretty to use but  I got over that, trying three of the shades.

Oh My Lunge! is the sheerest of the three. It's a pale peachy pink that adds  a barely there tint. Nice Cheeks is a nude wash of color , adding a little warmth and tint but no overall pigment.  Love Your Body , my favorite of these, is a warm  pinkish coral . It adds slightly more tint than the others with a light coral sheen.

While these may not have a lot of color to them , I really like them. I have been using mine over matte lipcolors to add just enough shine, slip and moisture to them. They are nice on their own for a barer look or as a top coat over lipstick.

Where  Crystal Glaze Gloss really succeeds is in the moisture. These really hydrate and the effect lasts for a couple hours .

MAC Scrubtious

Have you checked out MAC's new Scrubtious yet?

This little pot of deliciousness is the brand's new lip scrub and it is as the names suggests, scrumptious. If you loved their Tendertones from years back, these are very reminiscent of those but with scrub particles added.

You get a slight tint of color , I have Candied Nectar here,  with a lot of moisture,  just a small amount of scrub particles and slight shine. This is not gritty at all but has just enough in there to smooth lips . It also has a great fruity scent and taste . Candied Nectar has just a slight peach tint with a peach/ strawberry sort of flavor.

The exfoliating  is sugar based and shea butter and grape seed oil add the moisture .  For Winter ,  it's pretty perfect.

MAC Scrubtious comes in five flavors , is $ 16  and permanent.

MAC Crystal Glaze Gloss - It's A Great Feeling- Kabuki Magic

I think this is the star product in the   MAC Makeup Art Cosemtics line created with three makeup artist masters.

Crystal Glaze Gloss is from Kabuki and I couldn't love this more. It looks  fabulous just in the pot all  swirly, shiny red . Then you put it on and get a sheer orange-y red color loaded with shine and a little shimmer on your lips. I love it as is, but it will make a great lipstick top coat too.

Like many glosses it doesn't last super long on but it is very moisturizing and the moisture stays along with a little color.

MAC Crystal Glaze Gloss ( it comes in one other color-Ice Follies , a sheer pearl) is LE and $ 21.

MAC Today We Live Blush Duo- Kabuki MagicCollection

 
The Makeup Art Cosmetics collection designed by three top makeup artists is a huge one. I have only tried some of it, and from what I've seen there is a lot to love.

Today We Live is a blush duo by Kabuki. One side is a bright, rich  peachy coral with pearl shimmer and the other a   matte medium tan/brown .  Swirled together they make a shimmery light bronze shade .  Both have  very good pigment but they also have  fallout, especially the coral shade so tap your brush off before use.

It's a beautiful  combo to get ready for Summer no matter what the thermometer says  and if you happen to be taking a Caribbean vacay , tuck this in your bag and you're set.

MAC Shadescents & Lipcolors

 How about a coordinating fragrance and lipstick set?

MAC's new Shadescents fragrances are inspired by their lipcolor namesakes and the line includes those lip shades in coordinating, color matched packaging.

Honey makes up Velvet Teddy with the note being very strong here , if you love the smell of pure, straight up honey with just a hint of musk and spice this is for you.

Candy Yum Yum has cherry, tropical fruits, vanilla  and a bit of cotton candy sweetness  while Creme De Nude is more of a skinscent with amber, white musks and very light vanilla.

All come in the familar bottle that MAC Hue fragrances were in.

MAC Black Plum Friday

 This year's Black Friday one day only from MAC is a good one.

They are doing a deep purple Vamplify lip shade, Black Plum . Vamplify is one of  my favorite MAC lip formulas and this shade is gorg.

It will be sold in a kit with a matching Pro Longwear Lip Pencil in Bespoken For and Rebeleyes Gel Liner in Top/Bottom,  deep black.

MAC Strobe Cream- Peachlite &Goldlite

MAC Strobe Cream has always been a makeup artist staple and a makeup fan favorite too. I've had a tube forever. Now with the popularity of highlighting growin ,they've released some shade extenstions.

Two of those new shades are Peachlite and Goldlite. MAC's Strobe Creams are not in your face glitter charged highlighters. These create a soft glow with light iridescence.  The cream has a light feel on skin and is easily blended. It can be used alone, under/over makeup  or mixed into foundation or moisturizer.

Peachlite goes on with a touch of warm peach tint , again very light in pigment, just enough to warm your skin up a bit. Goldlite gives skin a light golden touch. Both do a  great job of brightening  and highlighting. This can be used on body too of course. Decollete , legs .

MAC Strobe Cream also comes in the original now called Pinklite, Silverlite and Redlite.

MAC Quik Trik Sticks

 It's double the color and fun with MAC's new QuikTrik Sticks. These multi use dual sided sticks debuted backstage at last Winters' Fall 2016 fashion shows and  come in coordinating shades for color, contour and highlight.

I have three of the duos here . Two are bronzes and golds while the other has pink and peach.

These glide easily onto skin  and blend well. They have a very emollient feel yet the ingredients list no oils or heavy hydrators.  The non shimmer side of each duo has good medium-full pigment while the pearlescent highlight side is more sheer and yes, shimmery but not a glitter overload. If used with a light hand it's fairly subtle. 

I am liking all the color combos I have and would be hard pressed to pick a favorite. I love stick products like this and having two in one is even better. Great for touch ups  , I've been using mine to add a touch of brightening (aka help) midday.

MAC Nutcracker Sweet Pink Mineralize Bag

Another gift set from MAC Holiday Nutcracker Sweet is up today.

The Pink Mineralize Bag contains three products , two full size for lips and one mini for face. Mineralize Lipglass in Eloquently Elegant,  Mineralize Lipstick in Be Fabulous and Mineralize Skinfinish in Lightscapade make up the set and come housed in a large decorated makeup bag.

The bag is pink and burgundy with stars and gold embroidery and made of a PVC type material. I admit  I don't love the look of  all the designs/bags with this collection ,  but I go for the products mostly anyway and I love this little trio. The colors are all easily wearable and pretty.  The bag is a nice size at  8" long x 4" wide and will hold a lot with a deep open compartment.

 MAC Holiday- Nutcracker Sweet- is here and there's a lot to check out. There's a large selection of new gift sets so let's take a look at one, the Pink PatentPolish Kit.

This kit comes stocked with four PatentPolish minis in a decorated box with a  pull out tray.  A fabric gold knot serves as the drawer pull. It can be gifted as is without even wrapping.

 The four shades included are: Patent Pink, Fearless, Hopelessly Devoted and Ruby.

MAC Brow Sculpt Pencil

 
Brow Sculpt is the new eyepencil from MAC joining their already deep brow line up.

This new pencil has an angled tip making it easier to get more precise lines and touch ups. The pencil is matte and very natural looking while adding a  nice bit of color. It feels a bit hard but goes on and into brows easily.

I have two of the lighter shades - Omega and Fling. I love that there are several choices for lighter brows , these are great colors that work well for blondes and redheads. I have a  tough time finding the right brow color and both of these work for me.

There are eight shades in all.
