Protect Your Pout- The Lip Balm Guide

With the temps hitting the '20s here this week, and already there  in many places, it's time to make sure your lip balm game is on point.

My lips get so dry so I have a stash , a large one to keep my pout perfect. Here are some of my favorites, both new and old, high and low end , tinted or not , with links to previous reviews.

Nivea Lip Butter Tins- Yes tin balm can be a pain, but these pack  shea infused moisture for serious lip comfort. Your nose gets a workout too, as the scents like Vanilla Macadamia are so good. (niveausa.com $3.79)

Burt's Bees- Burt's Bees are one of those staple balm brands, but I especially like their seasonal launches. This winter it's Wild Cherry .  No chemical cherry smell here , it gives a real cherry aroma with no tint or sheen , just moisture. (burtsbees.com $ 3.30)

Lancome Baume in Love-  A little luxe in your balm is a nice thing. These balms have light tint and a lot of moisture in a lightweight , no shine formula packed in a silver bullet. When it's too cold or your lips are too dry for  lipstick, these take the place. (lancome-usa.com $26)

philosophy Kiss Me Tonight- I've been singing this balm's praises for years. Thick  and super emollient  it's heals dry lips fast. Leave on overnight  or use during the day . (philosophy.com $21)

Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment - The gold star of lip balms. Comes in clear or tinted versions  that are lightly scented. This balm literally melts onto lips for some of the richest moisture out  there along with SPF 15 to protect from snow glare. (fresh.com $ 22.50)

Revlon Colorburst  Lip Butters - When you want lipstick like pigment with enough moisture to brave the cold blast, grab these. The deeper shades, red , coral etc. have good color payoff while mango, shea and coconut butters make them feel, well butter, on your lips. (revlon.com )

Hourglass No. 28 Treatment Oil- Oil is going to be catchword in lip products this year I think, but Hourglass beat the trend last year with this super hydrating mix of 28 essential and plant oils. The oils give this a spicy, herbal scent. ( hourglasscosmetics.com $42)
