Dsquared2 SheWood and HeWood fragrances

Dsquared2, the fashion line created by twins Dean and Dan Caten , released 2 fragrances in the last year. First was He Wood for me, and recently She Wood for women. These have not been too easy to come by in stores but thats about to change as they will be carried by Sephora beginning next month. Currently at Saks and Nordstroms, I don't think all branches have them in .

The Catens' were very inspired by their Canadian homeland when creating their scents. The native woodlands played a great influence. They thought of three "chords" light, sap , and wood.

They wanted to make a womans fragrance that was a bit more masculine. It is , but it is also feminine, just not girly. It is almost unisex and I could easily see a man wearing this as I could see a a woman wearing HeWood.
The perfume begins with a light citrus and the woods. Woods- not woodsy. I get the jasmine and the amber, the cedar and a hint of vanilla which isn't in the official note list.

It's pretty and somewhat understated. Soft with medium sillage, but there. Not so soft as to fade. It lasts pretty well.

To quote the brothers:
“Our perfume is not sweet and girly but is modern and woman”

She Wood notes:
Top notes are lemon, jasmine and neroli; Middle notes are violet, heliotrope and musk; Base notes are vetiver, cedar , amber.

He Wood is the man's version and like the women's it could be worn by both. The thoughts here were air, water, wood. This is a great men's scent and I really did smell the scent of freshly sawed wood in there. It's very earthy and green and again like the She Wood, subtle. Masculine and fresh but not aquatic. It's outdoorsy too and a fragrance that will not overpower. It would be lovely in the candle version.

Notes:
AIR
White Fir
Vegetal Amber
Musk
WATER
Violet Leaves
Blossom
Water-Transparent Accord
WOOD
Vetiver
Cedarwood

Both of the bottles also have a real wood piece which is a fun touch.

Dsquared2 also just had it's most recent show in Milan last week. Their fashion is very different from their perfume and the type of scent they went with suprised me, but thankfully it's not a fruit cocktail perfume.

In Milan they showed very 70's era fashions with a real nod to Bianca Jagger. Even Style.com said that. These clothes are modern Studio 54 days for sure, but also fun.
