Issey Miyake L'Eau d'Issey Pure

L'Eau d'Issey Pure is a new gem from designer Issey Miyake.  It's a new variation on 1992's L'Eau d'Issey .

This fragrance features a new scent molecule called Maritma , created by IFF, that is aquatic and water like and  first off that's what you get alongside Ambergris, all salty, sea wind whipped mineral earth.  In fact I get more ambergris than aquatic, which to my nose is a good thing. It's one of my favorite notes and this isn't one of those simply clean fresh scents, it has a bit more.

The Ambergris leads into the woods and florals. There's a bouquet of white florals here- lily of the valley, lightly and as it nears the mid point the rose ( rose damascena) is there , soft but prominent along with a creamy orange blossom and jasmine. By this time the ambergris is almost hiding in the background but you get the occasional whiff of it.  As it dries down you get some of the woods but it remains very floral. Cashmeran is one of the notes and it adds depth along with the amber but this is not a heavy woodsy scent. It does get to a more clean feeling at the drydown  while I would prefer more ambergris, but it's still quite pretty.

This is an easy to wear fragrance especially if you like aquatic florals. It has a more sillage than many "clean" fragrances, and a bit more lasting power. It's not strong but not barely there .

Issey Miyake L'Eau d'Issey Pure is $88 for 1.6 oz & $108 for 3.0 oz at Macys and Sephora .
