Peter Thomas Roth Skin To Die For Mineral Matte CC Cream SPF 30

Peter Thomas Roth makes some of my favorite skincare  and for Summer there are several great new launches to help us keep our skin  protected and cared for this season.

First up is the new Skin To Die For  Mineral Matte CC  Cream. We don't see nearly enough matte CCs  and this is perfect those of us who are more oily but still want to use a CC, BB or perfecting primer.

Mineral Matte CC has good medium coverage that perfects ( it has light scattering optics) and smoothes.  It is a thicker cream but not too thick and blends well. It is a breathable , comfy matte. Not super dry , not heavy , chalky or cakey  and  it doesn't settle into lines so it can be used by all ages, in my opinion.  The Mom loves this one too.

The coverage along with the matte finish , physical SPF 30  and other good for skin ingredients make this a no brainer for days when the heat is on and you want a lighter, less makeup look or to wear by itself all the time if you don't use foundation.

Ingredients include high potency THD ascorbate vitamin C , glycerin  which adds light hydration and kaolin to absorb oil.

Paired  up with the brand's also good Skin To Die For Mattifying Primer  and us oilies are good to go.

Peter Thomas Roth Skin To Die For  Mineral Matte CC  Cream SPF 30 comes in three shades( shown in Medium) and is $ 38 at Sephora

**Also shown is new Max Mineral Naked SPF to be covered in a separate post soon.

Peter Thomas Roth Pure Luxury 24K Gold Lift & Firm Prism Cream

Peter Thomas Roth's 24K Gold Lift & Firm Prism Cream  is a neat new launch that is most like a CC /Highlighting Cream.

This cream/gel  comes out of the tube a true gold shimmer. Do not be afraid, it blends down well and leaves behind a slight sheen with a little shimmer but nothing like the initial drop might have you think. It's not too much but instead enough to perk you and your skin right up and give a little glow.

This looks great on skin or should I say makes skin look great?  Not only do you get that little glow but it's very hydrating so skin looks well moisturized and smooth .  Under makeup you can't really tell it's there , it's you but with more radiance. It works as a primer , or on it's own and as we get closer to Summer and start using bronzer or self tanner., it will really complement them.

Ingredients include glycerin, hyaluronic acid, avocado oil and jojoba esters along with actual collodial gold along with shade sensing spheres that adjust to all skintones and help diffuse light. It can be used all over or as a highlight on areas of the face like cheek and browbones or the decollete area.

Peter Thomas Roth 24K Gold Lift & Firm Prism Cream is $ 42

Cargo HD Picture Perfect CC Cream

Cargo adds to it's HD line with Picture Perfect CC Cream, not new but new to me and maybe to you.

Cargo Picture Perfect CC is a non tinted CC that comes out of the tube whitish but also has tiny beads of pigment in there. The cream is self adjusting to your skin but also comes in shades.

The self adjusting works just fine. Once smoothed in , the shade I have Medium looked fine on my skin , not dark or too light , barely there really.

This does instantly smooth and slightly perfect skin. It's  more hydrating than many CCs I've used and while could be for all skin types, those of us with oily skin might not like the  moisture boost in the heat we've been having. It was more than I'd use now, but come colder temps it'll be lovely and  makes a nice makeup base especially for normal to drier skins . Glcyerin and Squalene are among the ingredients.

SPF 20  is both physical and chemical .

Cargo HD Picture Perfect CC Cream is $ 34 and available at Ulta and Cargo in Light, Medium and Medium/Dark.

MAC Lightful C Tinted Cream With Radiance Booster SPF 30

Another rave for MAC .  Lightful C Tinted Cream With Radiance Booster  is simply that good.

This new product is a tinted cream , like a BB , and offers really good coverage. It's medium coverage, up from the usual light most BBs or CCs have.  It's enough to use on it's own on good skin days, little time to get ready days or if you just want  lighter coverage.  It's not heavy so it works for all skin types and has SPF 30.

The cream is color correcting, helping to reduce the look of imperfections and it also boots radiance. As I said it covers very well, has a semi matte finish , has just the barest feel of hydration and with Vitamin C helps to work against  dark spots. It's a rare day I go without foundation totally, but  using this I have.

The SPF is both chemical and physical with 1.10% titanium dioxide. Other ingredients include licorice and gentian root extract , wheat germ and apple fruit extract, caffeine ,glycerin and sodium hyaluronate.

I have always loved MAC's BB Creams,  but this goes one better. The Mom is loving it too , it gets both our seal of approval  , as it works great on mature skin as well.

MAC Lightful C Tinted Cream With Radiance Booster SPF 30 is $ 35 and comes in 9 shades ( shown is Light).

L'Occitane Pivoine CC & Precious BB Creams

L'Occitane is known for luxe  body products but now they've taken a foray into makeup. These new BB & CC Creams have been in  Europe for  little while and I'd been wondering when they'd hit US shores.

Pivoine Sublime CC Cream
will be available May 11th. This is a lightweight perfecting CC that goes on sheer. It doesn't add much color or tint but evens skintone , helps smooth and brighten and fill/conceal pores.  It's also lightweight without any heavy moisturizers making it good for all skin types including us oily ladies.  The SPF is 20 and chemical based and  it has very little fragrance .  $ 34. Shades  are light ( shown ) and medium.

Immortelle Precious BB Cream is a traditional BB. It is creamy and slightly thick, providing good coverage. It wears easily with no foundation over it or with it. The coverage is medium light I would say.   It's also lightly hydrating with Immortelle essential oil , borage, jojoba and evening primrose oils. The SPF is 30 with 15. 32 % titanium dioxide. $45 and it comes in 3 shades .

MAC Prep & Prime CC Colour Correct Cream and Powders

A little late on this but have you checked out MAC's Color Correcting line yet ? If you're not too familiar with color correcting skin products , you might find yourself asking , exactly what do I use them for ?

These CC Creams and powders help to correct  and even skin tones basically. They can tone down redness or brighten dull skin among others. It's a subtle thing and they are not going to suddenly make you look like you have magazine perfect skin. But they definitely polish up skin, set makeup well and add a little oomph to your skin, making it and you look just a little better . It's good wakeup makeup.

Neutralize

My favorite of the group shade wise is yellow Neutralize .Yellow powder is something I've used for a long time off and on. Yellow powder not only can perk up winter dull skin but it also cancels redness. It doesn't change the color of your makeup or add color to skin that's visible .

Adjust

I love the CC and the loose powders best. The solid powder I found a little too thick for lack of a better word. It's nice but just not as light feeling on as I'd like  it to be. The CC Cream here is lightweight with just a touch of moisture , has SPF 30 and will act as a primer under makeup or can be worn on it's own .

If you want to explore the other shades, Illuminate ( lavender) is the most brightening and gives skin a bit of a non shimmer  translucent glow.  Adjust is a great shade to bring some warmth to dull skin  as it has a just a little color to it and Recharge is the shade deeper skins  might want to look at  for an overall warmth as well as perfecting, as it will add color to the face on anyone pale . This shade could also be used for contour.

The full MAC Prep and Prime CC Colour Correct Collection is at all MAC locations in the permanent line.

MAC Prep and Prime CC Cream SPF 30 is $ 30
MAC Prep and Prime CC Loose Powder is $ 24
MAC Prep and Prime CC Compact Powder is $ 24

Lumene Time Freeze Anti Age CC Cream

Sometimes but not too often you find a drugstore brand  product that's  pretty much equal to a higher end one and  in Lumene's CC Cream you've got one .

Granted I haven't tried every CC out there but of those I have and liked, Lumene's stands up well.

Their Time Freeze Anti Age CC Cream has light but good coverage. It's sheer but makes skin look smoother,  more even and gives it a perfected look.  The shade I have is light and it is  pale but it also blends in well .  There is also a medium shade .

It's  moisturizing but not greasy  and that surprised me as there is sunflower seed oil in it. I expected it to feel heavier, but instead it's light.

The SPF  is 20 with both chemical and physical filters with 4 % octinoxate and 0.83 % titanium dioxide. I'd like to see more of the physical blocker in here but at least there is some.

Overall Lumene is a solid entry in the CC Cream category. Perfect to wear alone or over foundation.

You can find Lumene at CVS stores.

Lumene Time Freeze Anti Age CC Cream is $ 14.99

Stila CC Color Correcting Stick w/SPF 20

Being a fan of  foundations in a stick, or well makeup in a stick of any kind ( The Multiple anyone ?) , I loved the idea that Stila made their new CC in one and set out to try it.

If you aren't sure yet what CC vs BB is, the quick version is that CC is usually less coverage than a BB, but not always, and CC is color correcting, meaning evening skin tone, reducing redness etc. They, like a BB, have good for skin ingredients and SPF.

Stila's original 10 in 1 Beauty Balm is an excellent one that I've had for awhile and now they've released a CC in a tube as well as this nifty new CC stick.

It's a large , chunky stick with a green center. That center is the redness reducing core - green reduces red. The rest of the stick has peptides, vitamin C and green tea extract , licorice root for brightening and SPF 20. It isn't oil free with sunflower seed oil in the ingredients .

The CC goes on skin easily and provides light coverage. Imperfections, spots are evened a bit and while it isn't matte it , isn't dewy either. More of a satin finish which works well I think.  It feels pretty light on skin and isn't heavy or overly moisturizing.

Of course one of the best things about sticks is portability, If you use the CC for your all day face base, it's easy enough to carry for late day touch ups and also no spills for travel time. Throw in the overnight bag and go.

Stila's CC Stick comes in eight shades and are $ 38. Shade  shown is Light 2.

Available at www.stilacosmetics.com and Ulta.

L'Oreal Visible Lift CC Cream

L'Oreal has entered the  world of CC Creams with the new Visible Lift CC Cream.

I've mentioned many times how much I love BB Creams and I am just starting to explore CC Creams, just like you might be.  I've heard CCs are usually lighter coverage than BB but so far that hasn't proved true, until now.

Visible Lift CC Cream is a sheer  formula with only a tinge of pigment in the light/ medium shade I have .   L'Oreal says there are "sheer color capsules" in there and you can see them in the close up photo.  It does  help to make skin a little more perfected,  more in the way a primer might work. The biggest benefit here is the moisture. With shea butter and mineral oil you get a lot of hydration. The feel on skin is light, it's not heavy but will not work for oily skins .

There is SPF of 20  using chemical sunscreens as well as vitamin C and calcium for antioxidants.

One of my favorite things, and I expect many agree, about BB Cream is their multitasking . When you are hurried having one product to do so much is great. Visible Lift CC Cream  gets in that multitasking as well, albeit a little differently. It will make a nice canvas for makeup and provides a base, moderate SPF and major moisture in one step.  While I do enjoy the coverage of my BBs, if you want something that does many things but with barely there coverage than this CC might be for you.

L'Oreal Visible Lift CC Cream is due in July but available at some stores now.

Retail is $ 12.95 with shades light/medium or medium/deep.

Pür Minerals CC Cream

I'm finally getting around to trying CC Creams.  I am an avowed BB fan but CC's are a little different from them, but not by much.

Generally I hear that CC Cream's are supposed to have less coverage than BB. With the one I tried from Pur Minerals  I think the coverage was quite  good and in some cases the same as my BBs, depending on brand.   My skin was smooth looking, brightened  and evened right off.

Pur Minerals' silicone free  CC  is very moisturizing with shea butter . Retinol and what germ extract are in there as well as a  meadowsweet  derivative that's a skin clarifying ingredient.

It also has Clariskin II , which Pur describes as a "unique agent made from wheat germ that targets the look of dicoloration with key antioxidants".

Pur  does call the CC matte, but it was slightly dewy on me , and while the formula is said to help better the look of oily skin, I think this will be too much hydration for oilier skins.  It's best suited to normal to dry,  but those who are just a little oily might be able to use it.

With it's broad spectrum,  high  SPF of 40 , it's a great  choice for max sun protection under makeup or on it's own. The SPF comes from homosalate, octinoxate and titanium dioxide.

The shade shown is medium .  Other shades are Light, Tan and Dark so this also covers a wide skintone range which is sometimes missing in the BB Creams.

Pur Minerals is available exclusively at Ulta  and is $ 38 or at www.purminerals.com
