Stila Magnificent Metals Lipgloss- Kitten & Rose Quartz

I love  shimmer and glimmer in makeup, especially lips so  Stila's new Magnificent Metals are right up my alley.

The new glosses are  part of their Fall 20th Anniversary collection .  A big anniversary and I think I've been using the brand just about since the beginning. The glosses have new, updated luxe packaging and  come in six shades including Kitten.

Magnificent Metals have a great deal of shimmer but they aren't  really metallic.  The shimmer is dimensional and the gloss is very moisturizing with a vanilla scent. The finish is sheer in the colors I have  but they add a pretty sheen of  soft, warm color to lips .

The full color range is :
Kitten (sparkling nude champagne)
Garnet (shimmery wine)
Rose Quartz (sparkling nude pink)
Pink Sapphire (iridescent light pink)
Moonstone (shimmery sheer pink)
Citrine (nude shimmer)

Stila Magnificent Metals Lipgloss is $ 23 and available at Ulta  and Stila

Stila CC Color Correcting Stick w/SPF 20

Being a fan of  foundations in a stick, or well makeup in a stick of any kind ( The Multiple anyone ?) , I loved the idea that Stila made their new CC in one and set out to try it.

If you aren't sure yet what CC vs BB is, the quick version is that CC is usually less coverage than a BB, but not always, and CC is color correcting, meaning evening skin tone, reducing redness etc. They, like a BB, have good for skin ingredients and SPF.

Stila's original 10 in 1 Beauty Balm is an excellent one that I've had for awhile and now they've released a CC in a tube as well as this nifty new CC stick.

It's a large , chunky stick with a green center. That center is the redness reducing core - green reduces red. The rest of the stick has peptides, vitamin C and green tea extract , licorice root for brightening and SPF 20. It isn't oil free with sunflower seed oil in the ingredients .

The CC goes on skin easily and provides light coverage. Imperfections, spots are evened a bit and while it isn't matte it , isn't dewy either. More of a satin finish which works well I think.  It feels pretty light on skin and isn't heavy or overly moisturizing.

Of course one of the best things about sticks is portability, If you use the CC for your all day face base, it's easy enough to carry for late day touch ups and also no spills for travel time. Throw in the overnight bag and go.

Stila's CC Stick comes in eight shades and are $ 38. Shade  shown is Light 2.

Available at www.stilacosmetics.com and Ulta.

Stila Stay All Day 10 in 1 Beauty Balms- Bronzing & Illuminating

Stila has one of the best BB/Beauty Balms of those I've tried.  Their original one is Stay All Day Beauty 10 in 1 Balm and it's very good.  Nice  coverage, lightly moisturizing, it smoothes a little, perfects a little as well as having peptides for skin.

To build on the line and the goodness of the original they now have 3 new versions  -   Stay All Day HD with SPF 30 , the only thing the original one was missing , as well as Illuminating and Bronzing.

I'm all for something that gives me a little color and mixing bronzer into a BB sounds like a great idea. I also don't mind a little illumination, who does? And I have had luck with illuminating primers in the past.

The Stay All Day Bronzing BB is dark when you first squeeze it out as you can see. In the next pic you'll see it blends down pretty well. It definitely gives me a little color and I mainly use it under my makeup. I like a bit of color and I think it's just right on me. I'm pale but not uber pale  and this gives me a nice warm up but it's not in your face noticeable.  I think if you're unsure the best thing would be to grab a sample if Sephora will indulge and try it out. Also, I know many darker skinned ladies have lamented the lack of dark BBs. This might work for them.

The Illuminating BB is quite light and is shown to the left of the bronzing one. This one  has very little color and works on all light skins. The illumination is minimal. It just brightens a tiny bit , wakes up your skin and will not make you shimmer or shine . It's become a fav right now , again under my makeup as a  little boost.

The SPF is 30 in each and is broad spectrum  with both chemical and physical sunscreen.

$ 38 each and exclusive currently to  Sephora

Stila Color Balm Lipstick

Stila joins the tinted lip balm lineup with new Color Balm Lipstick. And while there may be a lot of tinted balms out there these days, personally I can't get enough and am happy to see more . I remember years ago lamenting the lack of tinted balms ,  not anymore.

Stila's is a bit different in that it's richly pigmented. Some of the tinted balms are but most are not.  The shade shown is Spicy Red- Natasha,  which applies like a full red lipstick. I love a fully tinted balm so this part is good.

There is some moisture here but not as much as I expected.  It's decent but not a lot . Enough for most days but in the coldest temps  I think it wouldn't be enough. Ingredients include castor seed,  jojoba and peppermint oils. The peppermint gives the balm  a mint scent/taste that feels very zingy.

The finish starts out with a bit of a   gloss but sets to a more semi satin look. That "set" makes for a long lasting lipstick though. After several hours and some drinking it wore down to a stain almost, color still there but not as fully.

I do love the packaging here , as each tube has a mirror on the top for on the go application. Shouldn't all lippies come with that ?And the Stila lettering color corresponds to the shade inside.

There are 18 shades from rose to red.

Stila Stay All Day Foundation/Concealer Duo

Stila hasn't  always gotten a lot of love lately and it's a shame. It's always been a great brand. So I'm happy to hear they are  doing re-branding with their new tag line-"Makeup your own rules " and  it's a good time to rediscover them.

One  product I've always liked  are their foundations. Back in 2010 it was One Step Foundation.  Now along with a fabulous BB Cream there is Stay All Day Foundation and Concealer.  It's a full coverage foundation with a concealer tucked into the top lid.

The foundation  is a thicker formula and really covers. It's oil free but hydrating  and long wearing. This one works for  just about everyone including  mature skin, although I hate that description.  The Mom tried it and is really happy with it, finding it and the concealer to be some of the best coverage she's found yet. She , too, was a big fan of the One Step . If you have very oily skin  it might be too much hydration for you, so test first.  Stila says it's a matte finish but to a matte nut like me I call this demi-matte which makes it more wearable for most.

I love the 2 in 1 packaging but the concealer will go fast and is good enough to be sold separate as well, but having  it all in one sure is convenient.

Good for skin ingredients include Panax Ginseng Root Extract, Ginkgo Biloba Leaf Extract, and  Camelia Oleifera leaf Extract .

Lastly, a small blending brush also comes along if you prefer to use instead of fingers.

The one downside? The deep applicator wand in the foundation. That makes it  a little hard to get product out. You find a way to work with it but it can be messy.  A straight pour bottle  would be better.

Stila Stay All Day Foundation /Concealer is $ 44 at www.stilacosmetics.com ,  or  Sephora   and comes in 16 shades. Color shown is Light 3.

Stila Creme Bouquet is Back

Do you remember Stila's Creme Bouquet fragrance ? It's been ages since it came out and a few years ago it disappeared altogether. Well if you were a fan and it was a popular scent at the time, when the perfume landscape was a bit less crowded, it's back.

The bottle has a new look in keeping with Stila's re-branding , but the scent remains the same.

Creme Bouquet is $ 50 for 50ml  at www.stilacosmetics.com

Stila One Step PrimeColor

The Stila One Step foundation is a huge win, and now they have added a new One Step- PrimeColor.

PrimeColor is a multi purpose product. It can be used on face as all over color, or on cheeks. lips and eyes.

It's a cream formula, not greasy at all, more matte and blends really well . I have Bronze Babe and as much as I love bronze, I was worried when I first squeezed some out, that it was too dark. It wasn't. As I said it blends easily and on my fair skin as a blush and as all over bronzing, it was fine. There is a bit of shimmer in this shade, but only a little. On lips it was very matte, so for me, a balm or gloss would be needed.

What I love about this is the practicality ( and that's not a word you hear me utter often). This is made for summer days. If you're headed for the pool , beach or lake or maybe a girls spa getaway , this is one of those products that is easy to carry, use and gives you just enough color for casual, hot days.

PrimeColor uses mineral pigments, is water resistant , has Stila's Youth Revival Bio-Available Mineral Complex™ and comes in 6 shades including a Kitten version. Some have shimmer, some don't.

Shades are :

Per Suede (tawny)
Bronze Babe (bronze)
Pop of Pink (pale pink)
Capri Coral (coral)
Rosie Posie (warm rose)
Kitten

Stila One Step Foundation

Stila One Step makeup first came out late last year with the Makeup Player. Everyone who tried it raved, including me, but it wasn't available to buy otherwise. Good news, it is now.

One Step is an all in one. It's mineral based , a primer, foundation, concealer and powder. It has kaolin ( bless it ) to absorb oil, and is medium coverage. It isn't dewy but it's not matte either and leaves a slightly powdery finish. It covers well and skin looks smoothed . I still needed a tiny amount of concealer on acne spots, but not much. The formula is mousse like , blends wonderfully and lasts all day.

Per Stila's website:

"One Step Makeup is energized with Stila's Youth Revival Bio-available Mineral Complex - 15 ionically charged minerals that read and react to all your skins needs. - Diminishes the look of fine lines and wrinkles- Minimized pores- Controls oil- Hydrates & balances - High definition- Long wearing- 100% natural mineral pigments- Paraben & fragrance free "
