Issey Miyake L'Eau D'Issey Summer 2015 EDT

Want a fragrance that just says Summer ?  Each year Issey Miyake does a Summer EDT and this year's is a burst of citrus and floral that has the season down.

The fragrance starts off very citrus, always a good thing in my book , with notes of pink grapefruit and lychee.  Passion fruit and guava add more warm weather goodness . This never becomes a super sweet fruity scent though. It's bright and a bit sharp but the florals and woods of the drydown keep it grounded.  It ends with a  hint of vanilla and light woods with  the citrus still hanging in there .

It wears close to the skin with light sillage and that's something you might expect from a Summer season scent. It can be used almost ( but not quite ) like a body spray.

I haven't tried  a Miyake Summer scent in some time so I can't say how it compares to past ones, but I do know they often share similarities . This one is going right into my perfume rotation.

Love the graphics on the bottle ? The design is by artist Yulia Brodskaya.

L'Eau D'Issey Summer Edition ( LE) is $ 76 for 3.3 EDT.

Jean Paul Gaultier Classique Summer 2015

Jean Paul Gaultier's Classique goes seasonal with this limited edition release, Hindi Summer, inspired by a print from the designer's 2013 couture show.

Classique Summer is soft  floral touched with zesty citrus that gets a little green and woodsy as it dries down.  It is similar to last year's version according to the brand.

Rose and orange  blossom mix in the beginning with the citrus( clementine). Then jasmine and  lily of the valley come along  with iris which lends depth . All the white florals are lovely  and a favorite of mine. Along with the rose if the fragrance stayed just like this, It would be fine by me .

As it dries down, a little bit of a soap note  is there along with light musk and amber.

Classique Summer has medium sillage  I would say , not strong but not a skinscent. It's a nice touch for Summer outings . I think it would stand up well in the heat , working well for day .

Classique Summer is $ 71 for 3.3 oz EDT .

MAC Freshen Up Highlight Powder- Wash & Dry

Anytime MAC rolls out a Summer line with bronzes, corals and gold I'm totally there. New Wash & Wear is a bronze bonanza.

One new beauty is Freshen Up Highlight Powder.

Freshen Up is deep enough to be a blush on  us pale gals as well as highlight. If you have deeper skin it will be a gorg highlighter. There is light shimmer ( and I love a good shimmer) but it doesn't look too overdone on your face .

Swirled together it's a beautiful golden orange blush,  on their own, you get a gold that perfectly highlights tops of cheeks , and two deeper colors for contour , across forehead etc. The metallic bits are an overspray only.

Freshen Up is $ 35.50 and on counter May 21st along with the full Wash & Dry collection.

Guerlain Summer Rouge Automatique Yellow It Stick & Blue Ocean Summer Shadow

Guerlain Summer this year strays a little off their usual path. Colors are a bit edgy and bright at times  for them but still the luxe makeup we know and love.

One  of the two new Rouge Automatiques ( a fab lipstick formula if you haven't tried it ) is Yellow It Stick.  I was pretty sure I could rock a yellow lip if needed but had a feeling it wouldn't be that bold and I was right. Don't fear the yellow  here , the color goes on a semi sheer shimmery gold. It's quite pretty. On it's own it's own it's a sparkle of color that will also punch up a lipgloss or tone down a deeper shade. And with a tan, yes it will look extra good.

Also new is Blue Ocean Summer Eyeshadow , one of two new shades. The other a sand beige.   Blue Ocean is a watercolor wash of  liquid eyecolor . Again less bold than in the tube but a fun, pretty shade  with light to medium pigment that dries super fast to a powder feel waterproof finish.

Guerlain Summer is available in May at Nordstrom, Sephora , Saks  and Neimans.

Blue Ocean Summer  Eyeshadow is $32
Rouge Automatique Yellow It Stick is $ 37

YSL Gloss Volupte Summer 2015 - Orange Sagatte & Bordeaux Sarouel

Looking at the two new colors of gloss from YSL for Summer immediately made me think of bronzed skin, sunshine and strappy sandals to go with these bright lips.

These are two pretty shades from the Marrakech inspired Les Sahariennes collection  and the tangerine /peach of Orange Sagatte is especially a favorite. For me, it's basically a color I wear anytime and all the time.  It's not super bright but not pale , having a medium peach/orange color with slight gold shimmer.

The other shade, Bordeaux Sarouel is a muted red, with hints of burgundy and one I can actually wear. I have a hard time with reds but this works with my coloring and I like it.  I have so few reds in lip repertoire, so it's nice to have one that will be wearable basically all year . Yes it'll look great in Summer but also now and in Fall through Winter.

Both of these are very shiny , non sticky glosses. They have medium coverage and pigment with a fruity scent.

If you're looking for a new lip color for Spring & Summer fun, you won't go wrong with these.

Available soon at Sephora, Nordstrom and more for $32 each.
