Biotherm Eau Pure New Fragrance

Biotherm is bringing a new, awesome fragrance out. I loved many Biotherm items years back and am now rediscovering it again.

This new scent called Eau Pure is a body mist , a light spray scent that can easily be re-applied thru the day. It does however have decent staying power which is rare in a mist . I get about 2-3 hours out of the first sprays.

The scent is just delish. Loads of citrus( mostly grapefruit) and green tea( two huge favs here) with a hint of musk under it all. It comes out a bit sharp at first but almost immediately settles down. Both the green tea, citrus, and lotus note in there, make this super refreshing and I can't stop spritzing it. It is not , however, a fruity floral, at least not on me.

The scent contains 20% essential oils and was inspired by fresh spring waters.

Thankfully it comes in a big bottle , 100mls.

The price for said big bottle is great. $ 36.00

I am thrilled to see such a great price . This makes it far more accessible to everyone. Skip the Bath and Body Works sale ones and go grab this instead.

Available now at http://www.biotherm-usa.com/.

Matching shower gel is $ 23.00

Bobbi Brown Mauve's

The new Bobbi Brown Mauve collection has gotten a lot of attention this week from many of my fellow bloggers, but I wanted to weigh in as well. The new Mauve palette is beautiful and really useful .The colors will suit almost everyone and is totally everyday wearable, which is Bobbi's signature.

The highlight to me though, is the new Shimmer Ink gel eyeliner in Black Mauve. I love this. What a great color. It's very dark but not black, more of a deep plum tinged with black. I think all the bloggers have tried to find the right way to describe it. On the eye it it is plum, just a smoky plum and just a hint of shimmer. It is a perfect non black smoky eye look.

The release date is July, but Neimans and Nordstrom already have these items in.

Mauve Face palette $ 55.00
Shimmer Ink Black Mauve $ 19.00

Timberlake and Hartnett do Fragrance

The celeb endorsed fragrance trend continues apace. Josh Hartnett is the new face for Emporio Armani Diamonds for Men, and Justin Timberlake fronts the new Givenchy Play scent.
Play hits France in September, but won't be in US until next year.

My question, well one of them, is will men want a scent called Diamonds for Men ? or a Justin Timberlake scent ? And is it me or do these ads look extremely similar?

Just in case you want to know, the notes for the Armani include : bergamot, gaïac, cedarwoods, vetiver, Szechuan pepper, cocoa and ambroxan.

L'Oreal Sublime Bronze ProPerfect Airbrush Self-Tanning Mist

Awhile back the great folks at Total Beauty sent over a tester of the new L'oreal Sublime Bronze ProPerfect Airbrush Self-Tanning Mist . I was excited to test run it and really wanted it to work. Unfortunately it didn't go too well.

I had used their previous spray self tan last year with mixed results and the new one is going the same way. I was just unable to get even coverage. I went over areas again and again, in a circular motion and still ended up with darker lines here and there.

On the plus side though, there is very little self tanner smell and it dries pretty fast. The color it gives it really good as well, a nice rich golden tan.

So if you can get this to work well for you, it definitely has it's benefits. In the meantime, I'll keep trying.

The self tanner retails for $ 9.99 at all mass market outlets.

Rihanna rockin' Yellow at BET awards

Rihanna wore this yellow Giambattista Valli gown to the BET awards last night. Yellow , I think, can be hard to pull off, but she does it well. It looks great on her and is a softer look than we usually see on her. Props for mixing it up. The dress just says Summer to me .

Go Red, White and Blue with Lush Solid Shampoo

Lush is highlighting their solid shampoos in patriotic colors for the coming 4th of July holiday. I had not tried these before ,but like most Lush items, thought they looked pretty cool.

I picked Ultimate Shine , which helps make your hair glossy, shiny and soft. It also has ylang ylang and other oils to make it and your hair smell nice. There are tiny sparkles in there as well, but I really couldn't notice them. The shampoo itself was great. My hair is super soft and shiny and has really nice texture. It was fun using the bar and you really don't need much. I overdid it and ended up with a ton of lather. Just a few wipes over your head is plenty.

These are so portable which makes them great for the gym or traveling. ( they can go in the carry on, yay). Lush makes a nice tin to store them in as well.

The 2 others in the color scheme are:

New - smells deliciously of cinnamon , clove and peppermint. This one is red and works for scalp isssues , incl. dandruff.

Seanik- Blue in color, It has a softening gel made from seaweed, and salt.( and is the most fun to look at of the 3). There is also lemon oil , orange blossom and mimosa and jasmine. Pretty.

Each bar sells for 9.45 and if you buy 2 bars you get a free container.

Clinique Blushwear Cream Sticks

In July Clinique will release new Blushwear Cream Sticks. I was able to get an advance preview of these. I have had ups and downs with cream sticks, but friends and the mom love them, so I needed to test run these.

The sticks go on really nice, smooth and creamy but not too much so. They are also easy to blend and have good pigment, not too much, but not barely there either.

In this warmer weather these are great for quick makeup and on the go touch ups. The 4 colors are light to medium shades that will work on most skin tones. Another plus is that these last longer than many creams. They have special ingredients to help them hold on longer, and are water resistant. I also loved the silver cases topped with an enamel like button of color. Very elegant.( the mom gives them a big thumbs up too, and took off with both my samples)

The 4 shades are :

Nude: Glow Blush
Tawny: Peachy Blush-shown first image
Pink: Rosy Blush
Violet: Shy Blush -shown second image

From Clinique :
"Clinique Blushwear Cream Stick is a modern cream-to-powder blush that blends effortlessly into cheeks to provide a natural punch of colour. This silky, oil-free formula provides buildable coverage that can be applied anytime, anywhere.

Blushwear Cream Stick is for women of all ages and skin types who desire longer-wearing cheek colour that’s a cinch to apply. Perfect for achieving a natural glow or if you desire a more noticeable flush, a few extra strokes will do the trick. This water-resistant formula is also non-drying so even the driest of skins can apply with confidence.
A synergistic combination of silicones and film formers help create the luxurious, silky texture while providing increased staying power for all day wear. In addition, Dimethicone, Sterols and Lecithin work together to help minimize dryness."

retail is $ 18.50

Lancome Palette for Duty Free Travelers

One of the many great things about traveling is hitting the duty free shops. In the beauty world there are often many items that are only available there.

A new one from Lancome could solve all your travel packing in one purchase.

The palette has four eye shadows, one blush and two lipstick shades, plus applicator brushes and a wrap-around mirror, and also a detachable cherub charm complete with baby pink inset, with which you can customize a pendant or mobile phone. Cute.

I won't be doing any overseas traveling soon, but I want one .

It will sell for euro 42.00

Keira Knightley at Edge of Love Premiere

Wednesday in London, Keira rocked a Chanel Cruise 08 Pantsuit at the Premiere of her new movie Edge of Love.

I love her tousled hair and super makeup. Nice to see her keeping those too skinny arms undercover. This all really works for her.

Azzaro Couture Perfume

A new pricey, exclusive fragrance is coming from Fashion house Azzaro, in October. It is a new version of one of their original scents Couture. The Face of the ad campaign is Brit socialite( and onetime friend of Princess Diana) Jemima Khan. I adore Ms.Khan and think she is a great choice. She is also donating her fee to UNICEF , for which she is an ambassador. Good show.

"The original Azzaro Couture fragrance, a floral-chypre, was created in 1974. The new one, the work of Givaudan’s Aurélien Guichard, is a little more floral, and a little less heavy, in a way that aims to maintain the identity of its predecessor, but in a more contemporary way."

In the US it will be at Neiman Marcus; in London Harvey Nichols; and in France Bon Marché, Sephora Champs-Elysées and, of course, the Azzaro Boutique in Paris .

"The updated juice is composed of five absolutes, a rarity in contemporary perfumery given the costs involved. These absolutes are mimosa, rose de mai, iris, ambrette seed, and galbanum."

It sounds rather lovely.

Prices will be steep unfortunately at euro 170, €140 and €90, respectively.

Vibrating Mascaras from Lancome and Estee

Yes, you read that right, the topic is vibrating mascaras. A new invention coming soon to your lashes.

Lancome is releasing Ôscillation, this fall:

"A unique mascara that provides a 360-degree coat around each and every lash. The vibrating brush provides no fewer than 7,000 vibrations per minute for the perfect formula application. Ôscillation has four patents for technology and formula and was created by a team led by Jean-Louis Guéret, the designer of all Lancôme mascara brushes. The King of Mascara, Guéret has been the father of nearly 400 mascaras during his illustrious career"

Not to be outdone Estee Lauder has one in the works as well:

" TurboLash All Effects Motion Mascara, which the brand is touting as the world's first battery-operated, vibrating, all-effects mascara. It will be launched on July 17 as a Saks Fifth Avenue exclusive. "

Not sure what to make of this. Of course I'll want to try them, but until then we'll have to just wonder how much we need a vibrating mascara. This week the skeptic in me is really getting a workout.

I do like the idea that lashes are coated all around, though. Never could manage that with regular mascara.

Although one does have to wonder, where do we go next ?

Peter Thomas Roth UnWrinkle Powder

When the info for this new powder from Peter Thomas Roth skincare showed up, I have to admit I was skeptical. That a rarity for me. Loving beauty products the way I do, even when something promises far more than you know it could deliver , or has some weird process to how it's made, I am ready to try it and think the best. Until, that is, the words: SYN-AKE – a synthetic neuropeptide that mimics the wrinkle relaxing properties of snake venom from the Brazilian Viper, were used. Snake Venom -ish ????? Ohh-Kay.

So I had to try it. I have almost no wrinkles to relax, but am a powder lover, the mom on the other hand, has the fear of powder, and never uses it. Perhaps this would work for her.

I wasn't even sure I wanted to try it but I am glad I did, because we loved it . Ok, I don't know that wrinkles really relaxed, but it did make the skin look really good. It was applied over foundation about mid way through the day. I put some on, and walked away. later, getting ready to go out, looked in the mirror and was impressed with how smooth and finished my skin looked . I was not expecting that.

The powder really smoothes the skin for more flawless finish, and worked for both me and the mom. It also is not your usual translucent dust of finish. The powder has a bit of texture, and it gives almost medium coverage. No settling into lines at all.

For drier skin gals or those with more " mature" skin, this just may be your powder. This helps to retain moisture in the skin as opposed to drying, and has anti-aging petides and neuropeptides.

A fun bonus- in the new Get Smart movie, Agent 99 uses this compact and powder as a laser detecter in one scene.

UnWrinkle sells for $ 35.00 and will be available June 20th on QVC.com

Meltproof Makeup Tips

With a week of 100 temps behind us, but no doubt more heat coming, I thought I'd share some of my best hot weather makeup tips. I have serious makeup melt, even when it's not that hot, so the scorching weather really proves hard. I have tried many things to keep the makeup on, and some work pretty well.
First up are eye tips, since I think thats one area we all share in having trouble with. Plus, the face/ foundation in heat wars rage on for me. We'll save that for another post possibly.

A good tip is to begin to rely more on eyeliner than shadows for your eyes. Not just dark liner though, but brights or pastels. Eyepencils in lighter colors seem to hold up much better than black or dark brown. Plus there are now many waterproof versions out there. I have used the basic Sephora non -waterproof ones for years in a lime shade and a light purple with great results. Against a neutral eye background, these look nice, wear well, and if they do begin to slide, don't leave as much of a mess as dark ones.

Good choices :

Sephora Flashy Waterproof Liner: With colors like mauve, copper, orange and silver, you can't go wrong at 8.00

Make Up Forever Aqua Eyes : A huge color spectrum for black to yellow -green to turquoise, these are $ 16.00.

For 35.00 you can get a metallic bronze set of 5 colors., which includes silver and black.

Urban Decay Liquid Liner- If you like liquid, here's your liner. Another I have used for years. Now in new bottle, these stay put forever. Better than the 24/7's even. Acid Green and Honey( gold) are 2 favs and great for now. $ 18.00

Eyeshadows:

Clinique Quick Eyes Liquid Shadow- dries fast, lasts really long. All are fairly light, iridescent shades that don't overdo it. $ 15.00

MAC Paints-I love the Paint Pots, but think these last far longer. In a bit of a messy tube, just squeeze out what you need and apply. Mostly in easy to wear neutrals, there are a few in deeper colors like the red Flammable and deep brown Deep Shadow. $ 16.50 These also make a great eyeshadow base. http://www.maccosmetics.com/

Mascara-

One of the most subjective makeup items out there it seems. But I can wear down even the most waterproof mascara, so if it lasts on me, it should last on anyone.

Cover Girl - I swear by these mostly. Since they went to a smudge free formula years ago, and I tried them for the 1st time, they always last and last and never smudge, ever. The ones I think work best are Volume Exact, Fantastic Lash, Professional( less than 5 bucks) and of course Marathon.

Lancome Defincils- a staple that makes it thru the whole day and night without budging, thankfully. $ 23.00

Now there are many others out there, some I have not tried, so feel free to weigh in here. Great Lash in any incarnation runs immediately on me, Chanel Imitable Waterproof, which I love, does not make it all day. Yes the waterproof doesn't even do it. Sigh.

All Purpose:

Benefit She Laq- I have talked about this before. This stuff saves my eye makeup when I really need it to . It's not perfect, it does make shadow look a bit crinkly, but it also makes it last all day in heat or not. Good enough for me. Makes those smudge-ing mascaras do their job right too. $ 28.00

NARS Multiple- One do it all stick that dries powder-y and lasts on lips and cheeks. Love it. Portable, great for the beach to touch up after, or anytime you need it. Creams rarley last on me, but this one does pretty well. Use on eyes too. $ 36.00

Hope this helps, thse are all products that I use and work for me. There is more to explore and if you have more tips, share.

All items except MAC and Cover Girl are http://www.sephora.com/

Anne Hathaway at Lancome Party

Anne Hathaway hit Paris last night for a party to introduce the new Lancome fragrance coming this fall called Magnifique. She is the " face" for the scent.

Wearing a strapless Kaufman France dress, she looked totally stunning. Graceful and elegant. She is really becoming a real fashion pro. I am anxious to see what she wears to the Get Smart premiere.
The new perfume bottle looks rather nice too.

Scents of Summer

With 100 degree temps rampant all through the East Coast and more, I have been switching to my stock of summer perfumes. I thought I'd share some that work in the sweltering heat.

Montale Paris Sandflowers-I just reached for this today for the first time in awhile . In wondering what to wear , it seemed to be perfect, and it was. Sandflowers is a cool ocean floral. It has notes of juniper berries, seanotes ( a bit of an aquatic feel), sandalwood and oakmoss. Individually, many of those notes don't work for me, but in this they do. It's breezy and fresh but also pretty. It lasts incredibly well, but is not too much. (** Unsure on availability as of 2012 post update).

Acqua Di Parma Blu Mediterraneo Arancia Di Capri- One of the best of the citrus scents. Very zesty lemon with grapefruit, tangerine and orange . A citrus blast. It's light and doesn't last too long, but it's so refreshing. Since it wears off quickly, keep it handy and use as a light body spray throughout the day. Other notes include  cardamom, musk and more. At Sephora, Saks , Nordstrom. $ 92 for 2.5  oz. ( The others in this line, Mirto, Fico and Bergmotto are also great summer scents) .

Creed Virgin Island Water- Think coconut, lime, white bergamot, mandarin, jasmine, rum, sugar cane.
Yes it reads like a drink, but it's not too sweet. Just a bit , and very tropical. A definite unisex scent that makes you feel cool and relaxed just by sniffing. Said to be inspired by the Creed family's tropical boating trips. $ 140.00 for 1 oz. various retailers incl. Aedes, and Neiman Marcus.

Bond 9 Little Italy- Pure sunshine in a bottle. This one seems to get mixed reviews, but I adore it. I get mostly all clementine, but the herby notes peek out a tiny, tiny bit. Also has grapefruit, mandarin, musk, jasmine.

This one needs two applications back to back, and then you get decent lasting power. $ 175.00 for 1.7 oz
http://www.saks.com/ or http://www.bondno9.com/

The Different Company Bergamote-   Niche fragrance website Luckyscent describes this as sunshine and happiness in a bottle ( using my term from Little Italy). Using 70 % natural bergamot, ginger, orange blossom, leaf green, rhubarb (wood), musk, this packs a citrusy wallop. Luckyscent.com

Many more are out there.  Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess , Bond 9 Fire Island, Bobbi Brown Beach are but a few more. All these fall into the suntan on the beach category and are stunning.

Stay cool.

New Shoes from Nine West

I love Nine West shoes and bags. They are a brand that always does fashion forward but at an affordable price. Sure I love Manolos and Jimmy Choos, but they aren't overly affordable.

So, in browsing the Nine West site the other day I came across two new super hot shoes available for pre -order. Neither is ordinary, and both have a rocker girl attitude. The pumps especially remind me of some cool 80's shoes.

First up we have Therockett. Ok, I adore these. Not sure exactly what I would wear them with, but I think I need them anyway. Maybe just basic jeans. $99.00, and they ship on 6/26. Colors are brown, black or grey leather.

Next is Hamptonesk, they sell for 79.00 and will ship on 8/18. They come in black or bronze leather. They exude serious attitude.

Total Beauty in WWD and a Message from your Blogger

Womens Wear Daily did a great piece on bloggers in Friday's issue. They visited the Total Beauty Blog Summit last month to get a fly on the wall view. ( Alas, I was not at the summit).

Let me say , first though, that one thing addressed is the integrity of bloggers. I want my readers to know that even though I gush over many things, I really mean it. If you're a beauty blogger, chances are you're crazy for all things beauty, and so very little crosses my path that I don't like at least a little. I also find it far more fun to write about those things I love. We all know the thrill of a new lipstick or polish, right?

I use these products and test them all before posting, unless I just post a press release for something I have not tried. No influence is ever exerted( or taken) by companies or PR. I try to give as much info as possible, and know that like many things, it is subjective at times. What I love you may not, and vice versa. My hope is to introduce you to whats new and wonderful out there, and send you on your own mission of discovery. I have so much fun doing this and hope you enjoy reading it. Thanks.

Here's the edited WWD piece( it's very long so I edited just a bit):

Beauty Bloggers Gain Credibility in Industry
Women’s Wear Daily
Published: Friday, June 06, 2008
By Rachel Brown
MANHATTAN BEACH, Calif. — Beauty bloggers, once snubbed and now coveted by many of the beauty companies they adore, are on a bumpy evolutionary trek from detached commentators to industry insiders."They are like the QVC of this time," said Don Ressler, co-chief executive officer of Intelligent Beauty, owner of Redpoint Cosmetics and iQ Derma. "They have been really involved in the [beauty] space. They have really shown they have a voice." At the Total Beauty Blogging Summit held partially at Intelligent Beauty's headquarters here from May 16 to 18, the advantages and disadvantages of bloggers' rising power were etched out. On the plus side for bloggers, much of the beauty apparatus is taking them seriously as formidable links to consumers, and a support system of bloggers and online networks has blossomed to foster their success. On the downside, increasing competition has made it difficult for individual beauty bloggers to stand out. Bloggers complain about pesky publicists expecting coverage, and burgeoning media awareness has led to a perception that they're swag addicts with trigger fingers for positive reviews.

Many beauty bloggers are making an effort to keep beauty companies at a distance since traditional media, they said, often gets too chummy with beauty firms. The 45 bloggers at the summit were keenly aware that their currency is the authentic connections they have with readers. "We are liberated from the pressure of advertising. One of the great strengths that we all have is our editorial voice and the honesty we give readers," said Annie Tomlin, editor of Bella Sugar, speaking on a panel at the summit, . Still, bloggers walk a tightrope trying to preserve their integrity and acquire information as beauty companies banking on the bonds they have with consumers court them.

Julia Coney, founder of the All About the Pretty blog, suggested readers can tell the difference between a blogger with true affection for a brand and one that has succumbed to marketing, and will ultimately vote with their eyes. "I am not on Bobbi Brown's p.r. list, and I don't care if I ever get on it because I love her that much," she said. "Readers really know."

As the blogosphere matures, bloggers are sharpening their content and are sometimes shying away from covering products being sent to other bloggers to ensure variety. "Just because it is the hottest product, it doesn't mean we are going to write about it," said Ellen Mirza, editor in chief of Lipstick Powder 'n Paint. "We have to be passionate about it." Readers and brands can better judge bloggers for themselves if there exists established codes of conduct.

Kristen Giordani, senior editor of Total Beauty, advised summit attendees on product review guidelines. For example, she handed them an instruction sheet that outlined how skin care items should be tested for at least four weeks, makeup for five days, hair care for two weeks and body care for four weeks before a review. "The sites and bloggers that do have ethical standards and communicate those are going to be looked at [more favorably] from readers and brands," said Emrah Kovacoglu, ceo of Total Beauty. Review protocols make sense to Paul Baranda, who puts out Beyond Beauty Basics with his girlfriend. "Really what we want is for readers to come back and stay loyal....We want to be that person that teaches you what is hot out there and what is new, and give it an unbiased review," he said.

The questions confronting beauty bloggers are only due to mount as their numbers continue to climb, making it a complicated task for beauty brands to navigate the blogosphere that is home to hundreds if not thousands of blogs touching on beauty. "The brands have definitely understood by now the importance of bloggers in the success of their businesses, but it is difficult for them to figure out what to do," said Kovacoglu. "User-generated content is something that is scary to brands. They don't know what is going to be said."

At the summit, the bloggers spanned the racial spectrum; live in big cities, suburban enclaves and small towns; were members of the YouTube to Baby Boomer generations, and ranged from stay-at-home moms to successful professionals to former beauty editors.

Brands have coped with that diversity by basing their interaction with blogs on a blog's traffic totals and reaching out to the most recognizable blogger personalities. Kovacoglu said that brands are paying serious attention to blogs that have 25,000 to 35,000 unique visitors monthly, but Baranda estimated p.r. agencies start contacting blogs once they've reached the roughly 3,000 monthly visitor mark. How to boost traffic was a topic of great interest during the summit.

As brands and bloggers become more sophisticated, they have a better grasp on audiences for blogs and what products appeal to them. Gibson said that there are currently a few brands "savvy enough" to approach her specifically for her audience, which largely consists of middle-class mothers 23- to 35-years-old. Ressler said Intelligent Beauty would attempt to learn more from bloggers by soliciting their opinions and treating them akin to an "informal advisory board." "You get instant information in real time. You don't have to wait for a magazine," he said.

In addition, Total Beauty is launching a program called Sneak Peek later this year get products in the hands of beauty bloggers for them to review. "This is the first time we have had significant brand partnerships getting brands in front of bloggers," said Kovacoglu.

If the summit, where brands such as Kate Somerville, L'Oréal Paris, Anastasia Beverly Hills and Murad wooed bloggers with products and tours, is any hint, the assimilation of bloggers into the industry isn't slowing. "We see that the Internet is very quickly changing the entire landscape of the beauty industry," said Adam Goldenberg, co-ceo of Intelligent Beauty Inc. "The beauty companies that get this and that embrace the Internet are going to be successful and the ones that don't are going to be left behind.

"Frédéric Fekkai is game. In a video clip shown at the summit, he confessed, "Actually, I wanted to be a blogger myself. Maybe I should start."

Jemma Kidd, Pixi beauty at Target

Target plans to bring some high end beauty lines to their stores in August. One good feature is that they will have testers. The lines are by Jemma Kidd, Napolean Perdis and Pixi. Currently Jemma Kidd is available only at Bergdorof Goodman and Barneys, so this is quite a departure and great for the consumer.

Here's some info on the Jemma Kidd line:

"Kidd's masstige line, called JK Jemma Kidd, takes a heavy fashion positioning, where each of the 95 products were inspired by the catwalk (Kidd is a former model). JK includes lip, face, eye and cheek items, as well as makeup tools. Prices start at $14 for I-conic Eye Pencil Liner with a built-in sharpener and go to $36 for a Smoky Eye Palette. The color items, Kidd said, have been designed with strong pigment to produce bold statement colors" ( NP by Napolean Perdis shown at left)

MAC Gold Lippies

I got my hands on the new Sunsonic gold lipstick from Neo Sci Fi today, and as with most gold lipsticks, loved it. A bit paler than I usually like, though, I decided to do a bit of comparison when realizing that I have many golds from MAC dating back to the 90s. So here is a shot of them( or at least the ones I could think of).

Left to right are : Frenzy, the original old Frenzy - circa mid 90s, Apres Sol, 1N and Sunsonic.

Apres Sol beats them all in my book. It is the best color. I use it sparingly to make it last. That said, they are all pretty nice, and Sunsonic is out now.
So whats your favorite of the golds?

Estee Lauder Sensuous

Estee Lauder is slowly rolling out their newest fragrance Sensuous. It's a big release, as this is a departure for them. It's a woody-amber scent, and the first they have ever done. I was wanting to trying this, even though I am more a floral gal.

Sensuous begins right off with the amber which stays throughout. Some lily shows up, and lots of ylang, and then sandalwood. Mid-way it became a bit smoky, which was the black pepper note. It goes on strong , but settled into a softer scent fairly fast with very good sillage.

One of the things that consistently impresses me about Lauder fragrances is their price point. As somene who has, and will drop a bundle on perfume, it's nice to see ones that can be had without breaking the wallet.

The bottle is topped by a rose gold cap ( love) and has swirled glass on the back.

Right now Sensuous is available through http://www.sensuousIs.com/, where there is a great contest to win a trip to NY , Bloomingdales gift certificates and more, and http://www.bloomimgdales.com/

Estee Lauder counters will stock it in July.

1oz EDP $ 39.50

1.7 oz EDP $49.50

3.4 oz EDP $ 69.50

Touch on Fragrance 10 ml $ 39.50

Bobbi Brown Bronzed Pink/Tinted Lip Balms

Part of Bobbi Brown's summer collection is 3 new Tinted Lip Balms. Can I tell you just how much I love tinted lip balms ?? Whenever I see I new one, I go crazy. I love them, and have gotten a good collection going.

So I love these new Bobbi Brown ones. Older shades have been out before, but somehow I hadn't ( gasp) tried them before.

These are very moisturizing with good color payoff, I have the shade Desert Bronze, which a nice neutral nude shimmery shade. The moisture lasts long and the color stays on pretty well too. New is the metal case. Durable for all your outdoor do's.

There is also Golden Pink, which is a pretty frosty pink, thats rarely seen in a lip balm shade, and Bronzed Pink, which is more brown based than pink. All are nice and great for throwing on as you dash out the door. $ 18.00

Bond 9 Union Square

I am so far behind on trying/posting on the new Bond 9 scent Union Square, but whereas I usually get to smell the new Bond 9s really early, this time I didn't sample until a few weeks ago.

When I first read the notes on this I was unsure whether I would like it or not. It could go either way, as I love lily, but really dislike musk.

So I was pleasantly surprised to really like Union Square. It's very floral on me, a bit of a green floral. I get the amber listed as well, which is lovely. I can also detect the freesia. It's a nice floral mix. Not too strong but not soft either. It's also a more cool scent but with touches of the warm amber.

Like Most Bond scents this has excellent lasting power. It is fresh and springy and great for warmer weather, and of course it comes in the cool Andy Warhol print bottle.

The notes are :

Lily of the valley, Green stem notes
Blue Freesia,White birchwood
Amber,Silver Cloud Musk Accord

135.00 for 50ml at Saks stores and Bond 9 . http://www.bondno9fragrances.com/

Canyon Ranch Spa Skincare

Canyon Ranch Your Transformation is a new line of skincare from the uber famous spa of the same name.

One if the selling points of this new line is ProNad- a trademarked , bioactive form of niacin. This form is a 12 hour continous release and enables the niacin to get deep into the layers of skin. ProNad is also being tested by the National Cancer Institute as a possible cancer prevention agent.

Each product also has a host of other top ingredients, ranging from antioxidants to skin soothing oils. All have been clinically tested and and are made to be serious anti-agers.

I have been using the Elasticity Body Balm. It's highly emollient and contains 4 various oils including Borage oil. Borage Oil, I read many years ago, is one of the only oils that can penetrate the upper layer of the epidermis. In other words, it really works. The balm goes on smoothly and takes a little while to sink in, but is not greasy and has 3% of the ProNad complex. ( and no parabens or mineral oil). I am all for a lotion that anti ages . I especially like to use this on my arms. They need to be taken care of since they see more sun than much of your skin. ( ever compare the top of your arms to the underside? 'nuff said.)

Canyon Ranch also offers a cleansing cream and facial scrub. Age Transforming concentrate serum( 5% ProNad), Age Transforming hydrating mist, several face moisturizers including an SPF 30 UVA/UVB one, and eye cream.

The products are currently exclusive to Saks Fifth Avenue and Canyon Ranch properties. So if you can't get to the spa, the spa can come to you.

The Elasticity Body Balm sells for $ 50.00

Cute Makeup Artist Haviana flip flops

Havianas and three top makeup artists have teamed up to design these super cute flip flops. Proceeds benefit charity:water.
I think I need the Laura Mercier ones, with lipstick kisses in colors from her summer collection.

They are exclusive to Saks in stores and online and sell for 15.00.
Trish McAvoy did the sand and sea ones and Bobbi Brown the " life's a beach " ones.

"For the entire month of June, Saks Fifth Avenue will be offering its customers these special edition Havaianas on saks.com and, from June 8-22, at all store locations for a retail price of $15, with any two cosmetics or fragrance purchases (while supplies last). $1 from each purchase up to $200,000 will be donated to charity: water - a non-profit initiative bringing clean water and basic sanitation into impoverished communities. "
