Cover Girl Matte Made Foundation

Cover Girl has a new matte foundation out in time for Summer's heat and humidity and there's a  lot to recommend it.

The formula is a matte, but not dry, heavy or cakey. It's  really more semi -matte  with medium/full , blendable coverage.  Cover Girl calls it " comfort matte" and that is spot on.  Even The Mom , who  generally can't do many mattes, and obviously has more mature skin, loves it.

I am a huge matte fan  once Summer rolls in as I am oily and perspire. But as I get older I can't go as super matte as I used to.  Matte Made takes care of all that. It blends well, covers well and with a primer or a light serum underneath , I am ready to go.  I don't use heavy moisture in Summer especially during the day. It also really fills pores in well  which is a huge issue for me. By midday I need a T -Zone touch up,  nothing unusual there , my nose is an oil well, but otherwise it holds up well over the course of the day as it is long wear.

The other great feature here is the huge shade range. 40 in all. The brand has really went all out to allow for as many skintones as possible to find a match. I am fair and usually need the next lightest shades in foundation. With this I am 40 and even 50 is only a bit too dark, that's how much range there is.

Cover Girl Matte Made Foundation is  sugg. retail $ 9.99 . At Amazon, drugtsores and Ulta.

Cover Girl Flourish by Last Blast Mascara

Cover Girl wants your lashes to Flourish. That's the name of their newest Lash Blast Mascara.

Flourish uses coconut ,avocado and papaya oils to condition and soften lashes.

The formula is nicely lengthening , defines each lash well and adds light volume too, so you get a little of everything .   My lashes felt very soft with this, no stiff or crunchiness and it can  built up, even after a coat has dried without getting clumpy.

This lasts well for a non waterproof version on me, but I've always better luck with CGs than most.  I melt mascara  easily along with most eye makeup  but this held up well I am happy to say , even through a nap and some eye watering.

The wand is big but not huge . Smaller than some of the previous Blasts , which to me , is good. I don't like a giant wand , they seem to get mascara on more than my lashes.

I love the teal colored vessel too. It's not the biggest deal, but it does have eye appeal.

Cover Girl Flourish by Lash Blast Mascara comes in  four shades  and retail is $7.

Cover Girl Lid Lock Up Eyeshadow Primer

I melt eye makeup at warp speed. Seriously sometimes it starts to fade before I even get out the door depending on formula/brand. It's nuts but true. So a good base is important for me but... many of them don't really make much of a difference for me.

Enter Cover Girl's new Lid Lock Up Primer.  Did  I think this would be the primer that works better than most I've used? Heck no. But it is. When I use this my eyeshadow lasts far longer.  Most days I've gotten the whole day into evening which is amaze for me. Other times it's been  midday / late afternoon , again depending on brand. (For longest  wear I use mostly MAC , Chanel and NARS).

With this I dab some product on lids from the wand  and give it a couple seconds to set.  The thin formula  dries fast and shadow glides right  over it. I don't see any difference in the color or depth of shadow when using this. Shadow looks the same as always, just lasts a lot longer.

If you're a primer user and have been buying the more expensive ones you might want to give this a try  and possibly save yourself a few dollars. For the more fun things, like shoes and lipstick.

Cover Girl Lid Lock Up Eyeshadow Primer is $ 7.99 at drugstores and Amazon

Cover Girl Vitalist Go Glow Luminizing Lotion

There's no shortage of new ways to get your glow on this season and Cover Girl's new Vitalist Go Glow Luminizing Lotion  has you covered there too.

This new  lotion adds moisture, shimmer and a hint of color to skin.  It does smooth and perfect bare skin just a little while brightening you up but there isn't really any coverage. It has a good bit of shimmer to it , noticeable but not boldy shiny and can be used alone or under foundation or powder.

There is a nice boost of  moisture too, medium, not heavy but not light either and it does leave a sheen.  For my normal to oily skin I could use it as my moisturizer. Those who are drier may need more underneath .  The lotion also does have  a pretty strong, less than pretty fragrance . It's musky but also artificial and not to my taste ( or nose) .

Vitalist Go Glow Luminizing Lotion comes in 2 shades- Daybreak and Sunkissed. The deeper shade works well as a bronzer on lighter skin like mine and can work to give you some color under foundation.

Cover Girl Vitalist Go Glow Luminizing Lotion is 8.99 - 11.99 depending on outlet/sale.

Cover Girl Melting Pout Matte Lipcolor

It's easy to perfect your lips with  the new Melting Pout lipcolor from Cover Girl.

The deeply pigmented but lightweight liquid lipcolor goes on creamy, blends easy and sets to a full matte finish that feels soft and flexible on lips, not dry .  I'm not always a fan of matte lips, but I am open to ones that feel comfy on lips and these fit the bill.  I think these are going to get a lot of wearings and I like them as much , maybe more, than some of my far higher end ones.

The  doe foot applicator works well but doesn't hold a lot. I needed two dips to get product all over lips. Wear time is long as it often is with mattes . These do have a bit of a plastic scent out of the tube, but it fades fast.

Shown in : Paradise Lost, Coral Chronicles, Current Nude, Secret, Ballerina

Cover Girl  Melting Pout Lipcolor comes in twelve shades and are approx. $6.99-$8.99 depending on store/sale.

Cover Girl Katy Kat Matte Lipsticks

A matte lipstick that isn't truly totally matte is my kind of matte. I like at least a little satin finish , I just can't do all the way matte.

Katy Perry's Katy Kat Mattes for Cover Girl have just enough of a satin finish while being mainly matte . These new lipsticks have full coverage , go on easily and feel good on lips with light hydration and no dry feeling.

My favorite is the nude shade Sphynx. It's a medium nude that's hard to go wrong with.  Also shown are Coral Cat ,a rich medium coral and  Pink Paws  a light/medium pink . All are very wearable and have been getting plenty of time in the rotation over here.

Cover Girl Oh Sugar Lip Balms

Can you use another tinted lip balm? I know I always can. I love them and stock them up all season, all year really.

Cover Girl debuted their Oh Sugar balms earlier this year and they are great for some Spring color.

gumdrop, spice,soda,cupcale
These balms have good pigment and are darker than the outer tube color would have you think. The moisture is light but decent. I don't know that they would hold up against wind chills but for chilly ( or not) days they make the cut.

The color lasts awhile fully then you are left with a bit of a stain especially with the deeper shades. I did find they settled into lip lines a bit more than I expected but a little smoothing helps that.

These do have a somewhat strong scent. It's fruity but a little plastic too. I'm fine with it , but if you are fragrance averse you may not love it.

Overall these are a fun addition to the lip wardrobe .

Cover Girl X Star Wars

Have you seen the Cover Girl X Star Wars collection yet?  If you are a fan and I sure am, something from this is a must have.  How fun is it to have a Star Wars phrase on your mascara? Anything for a laugh or boost in the morning , right ?

The collection includes nail polish, mascara and lipsticks.

The Colorlicious lipsticks are fun colors and despite some being a little more daring than what you might normally wear, they are  wearable.  My favorite is the rich gold shade. I love gold lippies so this is right up my alley. The deeper colors are variants on rich bold berries and the silver shade actually looks pinkish frost on lips and less silver. There are six shades total in the collection.

With the mascara you have a choice of phrases as well as regular or waterproof in  the very ,very good Super Sizer . There are 10 different ones in all.   I've been wearing this mascara almost each day since it came out. The waterproof version does not budge and it gives a loads of length.

You can find the collection wherever Cover Girl is sold and I have to say it- May The Force Be With You.

Cover Girl Outlast Longwear & Moisture Lipstick

One of Cover Girl's new products is Outlast Longwear & Moisture Lipstick.

This is a fully pigmented matte formula. It is a little dry on  , not as much as some longwear lippies but it doesn't really have moisture. It is creamy though.   The wear time is as advertised, long. I got about 4 hours out of it before it looked  more like  a stain.

This applies easily, doesn't tug on lips and gives full coverage .

I like them a lot , the first long wears I've said that about in awhile . I'm impressed with the pigment as well.

Shades shown are : Fireball and Phantom Pink

Cover Girl Stay Luminous Foundation

While I tend to go matte in Summer , I've been using and really liking Cover Girl's new Stay Luminous Foundation.

It's a bit of surprise to me  to like it as much as I do as I am cautious with "luminous". With oilier skin in Summer that's usually a no go.  This however is a definite go.

The finish isn't really super luminous, there's no shimmer or over dewiness. It's more satin. It covers well with medium coverage and the long wear claim has been holding up . After a full day this still looks good and I have to do just one or two powder touch ups on my nose and chin.  My skin looks good, bright , covered but not  heavily done.

The formula is a thicker one, creamy not thin liquid and it blends easily. It's oil and SPF free.

I have two shades, 810 and 820 ( the lightest and next  to lightest. ) Both are working for me , but 820 is a smidge better  right now. So far there are 8 shades available.

Cover Girl Stay Luminous Foundation is available now.

Cover Girl The Super Sizer Masacara

Cover Girl's new mascara is the low cal version of supersizing.

The Super Sizer Mascara by Lashblast has a smaller wand than Lash Blast mascaras usually do, I'm good with that as I love the "blast" mascaras a lot but not those thick wands.

The bristles grab lashes best when you twirl the wand  but regular straight brushing works too although not quite as well for all over coverage.  The twirl gives the tiny bristles in there a chance to grab all the lash .

Super Sizer is more of a length  formula than volume. It adds a lot of length but just a small amount of volume. Your lashes definitely stretch up and out with this. I am a length fan so that works for me .   I had a little clumping, but with a brand new out of the package mascara that's not unusual.

It's deeply pigmented ( I have the Very Black shade) and lashes come out deep and dark . It also  comes in Black, Black Brown and Waterproof.

Cover Girl The Super Sizer Mascara is available now for $ 5.99-$ 7.99

Cover Girl Colorlicious Lipgloss

Colorlicious is the apropo word for these new glosses from Cover Girl. They are bright bursts of fun color for your lips.

Succulent Citrus, Fruitylicious, Plumlicious

The line has  colors ranging from light to bright and I have three of those brights.
These all are perfect for  your Summer looks. A bright lip is an easy look, lighting up your face without too much effort in the heat.

They have decent coverage, not full, but medium light and not too sheer.

As an orange fan, Succulent Citrus is my pick but Plumlicious and Fruitylicious are just as pretty.

These  are moisturizing, and not sticky/tacky. They feel very light on lips and have a fruity vanilla scent that is a bit strong. Wear time is short/average for a gloss, an hour . But layered over liner  , the wear goes almost an extra hour.

Cover Girl Colorlicious Gloss is available now in 13 shades for $5.99 - 7.99

Cover Girl Bombshell Shine Shadow by Lash Blast

The new shadow that's part of Cover Girl's new Bombshell collection is Shine Shadow ( see new Bombshell Volume Mascara here) .

Shine Shadow is a cream shadow in a tube that goes on somewhat sheer but not transparent. It has light to medium pigment and leaves a wash of shimmering color on lids that does have a sheen or shine to it. It's  a dewy look to the eye, something often popular backstage at fashion week, but not easily duped at home.

Color Me Money,Copper Fling, Platinum Club

Shine Shadow is easy to blend , not thin but not thick and two coats gives best coverage. The deeper shade like Platinum Club has the most coverage.  They can be used on their own or over a powder shadow.

I was surprised by the wear time. Cream shadows that aren't uber long wear generally don't last on me at all, but these held up about 3 hours. For me that's really good with this type of shadow, well with many shadows. For those who don't have eye makeup melt issues, you might do better.  Cover Girl does say they are long wearing for up to 12 hours. No shadow lasts on me for 12 hours, so I can't say how true that is.

These are fun for a little eye makeup update , maybe when you're headed for drinks or dinner and need a touch up, or want something you can swipe and go with .

There are six shades  and retail is $ 6.99 - 8.99.

Cover Girl Bombshell Volume By Lash Blast

The newest addition to the Lash Blast line from Cover Girl is Bombshell Volume. You may have already seen the ads for it in some of the magazines or drugstore ads.

New Bombshell Volume is a dual sided mascara. One side for mascara or bottom coat, one for a darkly tinted top coat.

The mascara side has a very large brush like many of the Lash Blasts. Being that each wand is attached to the middle piece, it's also a short-ish wand. The other brush end is  smaller , a  more normal mascara size.

The size of the wand does make this a little harder to work with, at least for me, but working with it was worth it as I got major length. Length is what I want most from mascara, I think most want volume, obviously both are good. My own lashes are somewhere in between. Not overly long but not short and not

While this is called " Volume" I think it does more for length and there was good definition. No clumping and lashes were separated well. There is some volume but not tons.

The formula is fairly wet, but doesn't smudge easily. Basically you do your lashes with the mascara , as many coats as you want ( I did three with no problems) and then add the top coat. That top coat is also black not clear and adds a little more deeper color to lashes while also sealing them according to Cover Girl. That only needs one coat.

Cover Girl Bombshell Volume by Lash Blast is sugg. retail $9.49- 11.99 and comes in Very Black, Black (shown), Black/Brown and Brown.

It should be in stores any time now as December is the release date.
