Clinique All About Eyes Serum Rollerball

Clinique's All About Eyes Serum De-Puffing Eye Massage started as a Sephora exclusive and I knew I had to try it. Luckily I don't have puffiness but the idea of a cooling eye roller was catnip. I have used the cooling sticks from Lumene and Vichy and this goes one better.

The rollerball is medicinal grade stainless steel and is very cool, as in to the touch. It feels like a jolt of coolness on your eyes and I don't know about you, but I have plenty of days when my eyes are burning and tired. This little roller goes on under or over makeup and is refreshing. You can't dunk your eyes in ice water mid- day, but you can roll them.

The serum doesn't take too long to dry and is nicely moisturizing. You get a firmed up feeling too. There is caffeine in there to help with puffiness and the rolling action is said to help increase "micro- circulation".

It's so portable and easy to use, perfect for your bag, desk, pocket.

Available now for $ 25.50 for .5 oz tube.

Nexxus Mousse Plus Volumizing Foam Styler

Nexxus Mousse Plus is not a brand new product, but it is new to me. It's also been getting raves here at Alchemist HQ.

This mousse foam not only does a great job of volumizing, it also conditions hair and works for heat styling. Hair gets boosted and feels really soft. Often soft can mean flat, not here. Used with a volumizing shampoo and conditioner , even better and there is no alchohol in it .

Retail price is approx . $ 12.00

Kenzo Eau de Fleur de Plum

Kenzo has a new fragrance in the Eaux de Fleurs line , Eau de Fleur de Plum .

This is a very soft, light scent. Not quite a skinscent as it does end up with nice sillage , but close. The scent is meant to be reminiscent of plum blossoms .

At first spritz is has an oddly aquatic moment but that passes. It gets softer and more floral and then the plum notes comes out. The plum is not overly pronounced but gives it a little fruit scent. As it dries down it gets a powderiness and a feather light almond note.

Created in colloboration with one of my all time favorite perfumers, Francis Kurkdjian ,this take times to really come to it's full drydown scent. A good half hour or more later, I had a nice, light floral scent with that hint of plum . One that lasted well and was very different from the beginning or even middle stages. The ending scent is quite nice.

Eau de Fleur de Plum is avaliable exclusively at http://www.kenzousa.com/and sells for $ 55.00 for 1.7 oz

Jouer Bronzer

Jouer had been around for some time but it disappeared for awhile and relaunched last year. What always made them unique and still does was the way all products could be attached interconnectingly to make a ready to go set. It's like Lego for makeup.

I had never , however, actually used any of the line until recently. One product that's caught my eye is the bronzer in Suntan. This bronzer is not bronze but more golden tan. ( Jouer calls is Honey Golden Tan). It looks more natural on pale skin. I love bronzers and have several , but many of us have run into ones that were just too dark for pale people. This isn't . It comes in a nice small compact that can be used separately if you choose to not build a kit. Also, there is no shimmer in the bronzer, it's matte. ( There is a deeper, shimmer one available also).

The Jouer bronzer is mineral based and has green tea powder, vitamins C & E and is oil free.

Bath and Body Works Summer Vanillas

It's been awhile since a new scent at Bath and Body Works got my attention. I do like the new Orange Sapphire , but in April is Summer Vanillas and this is a really good one. It's unusual I like them so much because I am not really a vanilla fan.

These vanilla blends are more about the fruit, with a small helping of vanilla. The Coconut Vanilla smells just like a Pina Colada. The Apricot is my favorite being a ripe fruit layered over ice cream scent and then there is a great citrus-y lemon , and a berry. Something for everyone, or maybe all for everyone ? Having tried all but the berry I can tell you these smell very, very good.
These come in the full line of body spray, shower gels, lotion as well as new Cooling Mist and Tasty Lip Gloss.

The full list and notes:

Coconut Vanilla-
This tropical twist of coconut milk and cool vanilla offers the perfect summer escape.
TOP NOTES: Juicy Bergamot, Lemon Zest, Watery Green Apple, Pineapple Sorbet
MID NOTES: Blackcurrant, Sheer Muguet, Jasmine, Creamy Coconut
DRY NOTES: Dry: Exotic Vanilla, White Musk, Sandalwood

Berry Vanilla-
A juicy kiss of luscious berries is layered over sweet vanilla for an addictive summer treat.
TOP NOTES: Wild Summer Blueberry, Meyer Lemon, Juicy Bergamot
MID NOTES: Blackberry Extract, Ambrette Seed, Watery Cyclamen, Beach Peony
DRY NOTES: Madagascar Vanilla Cream, Raspberry Sugar, Buttercream Musk

Lemon Vanilla-
This bright blend of refreshing lemon and vanilla evokes the warmth of the sparkling summer sun.
TOP NOTES: Burst of Fresh Lemon, Sparkling Citron, Juicy Orange, Iced Bergamot, Zesty Mandarin
MID NOTES: Purple Vanilla Orchid, Freesia, Yellow Jasmine
DRY NOTES: Pink Cotton Candy Accord, Creamy White Woods, Whipped Vanilla, Sugared Musks

Apricot Vanilla-
The spirit of flirty summer fun is captured in this mouthwatering blend of juicy apricot and cool vanilla.
TOP NOTES: Juicy California Apricot, Meyer Lemon, Dewy Strawberry leaves
MID NOTES: Watery Cyclamen, Creamy Peach, Sugared Honeysuckle
DRY NOTES: Airy Marshmallow, Tahitian Vanilla, Sugared Musk, Soft Woods

Body Lotion ($12.00), Shower Gel ($10.50), Fragrance Mist ($12.00) Cooling Mist ($12.00) and Tasty Lip Gloss ($7.00)

Look for the line in stores shortly.

La Mer -The Regenerating Serum

The Regenerating Serum is a worthy new addition to the La Mer line. This new serum has the powerhouse ingredients behind La Mer as well as new ones including The Miracle Broth™, The Regenerating Ferment™, The Marine Peptide Ferment, Colloidal Gold, and Lime Tea.

The Regenerating Ferment alone contains marine plant stem cells from a tenacious plant that grows on the Brittany coast and has been sustainbly harvested and grown in lab for it's resistance to stress.

Serious science has gone into this new product and four years of research. The serum holds 50 patents. I won't distill all the scientific information here as it is very detailed but believe me there's a lot there.

I, like many, love the feel of the original La Mer but it's a bit too rich for my skin. I am all about serums especially in warmer weather and this serum is very light. It gives instant smoothing and softening and leaves a powder soft finish on the skin. It's not overly moisturizing but just enough for us oily skinned ladies or to use under a cream . That smooth finish on the skin makes it a great primer for makeup also.

The Regenerating Serum 1 oz. is $250

Cover Girl Lash Blast Fusion

The newest Blast from Cover Girl is Lash Blast Fusion. Ready now for pre-order , it will be in stores in April.

The new Lash Blast Fusion has the huge wand that Lash Blast and Lash Blast Volume have. I think this one might actually be bigger. I have a hard time with these huge wands. I really don't get better results from a bigger brush than a smaller. It's the mascara itself that seems to make the most difference for me.

Lash Blast Fusion does deliver on big volume , maybe a bit more even than the Volume formula. Fusion is also supposed to lengthen, but I didn't see much difference in that area. I used 2- 3 coats to get thick, big but not overly long lashes. It lasted all day with no smudges ( big points for that) but I think overall I like Lash Blast Length the best. That version seems to be the least popular of the Blasts but it just works for me. Yes I would like more volume, but I do like the wispy, very long lashes I get with Length .

Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess Solid Perfume

One of the best scents Estee Lauder has ever done in my mind is Bronze Goddess, or Azure Soleil as it was first called. Thankfully they have been re-releasing it each summer and I've just seen this solid fragrance pendant. I adore solids, I adore Bronze Goddess. I need to check this out asap.

Solid forms of fragrance are usually much stronger and they tend to last longer. This could be the perfect form of Bronze Goddess.

If you haven't tried it yet, well you must. It smells of suntan lotion, tiare flowers, coconut, the beach.

The scent is also available in all the usual forms, body oil, skinscent and body lotion as well as another new one- sunscreen for face.

$ 75.00 for .5 oz solid perfume

Kushyfoot Pedi/Yoga Socks

Kushyfoot products are a staple of mine. I first talked about them over a year ago here

All their legwear has reflexology massaging soles that truly make a difference. The trouser socks are almost always on my feet when a long day is at hand.

The range of products was pretty good but now there are even more styles. My favorite are the pedi socks. Cute , aren’t they ?

How many times have you wanted a pedi in cooler weather but don’t want to freeze your feet off after you leave the salon in open sandals? Voila, these expose the toes but keep the rest of the feet cozy and covered. With their non slip bottom and reflexology pattern, these are also perfect for yoga and more . No more barefeet, but open and airy with grip.

Pedi Socks are $ 3.99 for one pair in stores

* Also new and worth checking out are Flats to Go. A small , portable pack of massaging sole flats that stash easily in your bag for those times when the heels simply must come off. Especially good for travel/commuting . One pair is $ 8.99

Kushyfoot is available at all mass market drugstores or can be ordered at http://www.kushyfoot.com/

Chanel Les Grands Extraits

Holy Swoon- browsing the Chanel site and what do I see, something called Les Grands Extraits .
They turn out to be vats of pure parfum . 7 to 30 oz of the pure parfum in Gardenia, #5 and Coco Mademoiselle. The site calls it the Magnum Opus of Chanel Parfumery.

Can you imagine? It's like having one of those huge factices you see in stores that aren't filled with the real thing, but these are. The downside of having Chanel Gardenia Parfum for life- it sells for $ 3200.00. Alas, not in my budget , but I think I might make it my wallpaper.

No. 5 is $ 2350.00 for 15 oz, Coco Mademoiselle is the bargain at $ 1700.00 for 7.5 oz

Dial NutriSkin Body Wash

Dial has been ramping it up lately. Really, Dial is one of the last brands I would have expected great smelling products from. It's always been just soap. First there was the Cranberry , which amazingly to me rivaled many other bath lines for great scent. I actually wanted something Dial, who knew ?

Now there are two new moisturizing shower gels called NutriSkin. These new gels have fruit oil moisture micro- beads in there, so you get a gel but moisture too. I have the Cherry Seed Oil & Mint . It doesn't quite beat the Cranberry for smell but it is nice. The scent is lightly cherry but since it's based on the seed oil, it's not strong, medicinal or candy cherry. The mint is barely there.

The gel lathers nicely and moisturizes like crazy but is not heavy. Great for this time of year and the pink bottle gives it girly flair for the bath.

The other scent is Grapeseed Oil & Lemongrass which sounds rather nice too.
Retail is $ 3.99 for 16 oz at your nearest drugstore.

Daisy is In The Air from Marc Jacobs

Marc Jacob's Daisy perfume is one of the most popular fragrances and for Spring they've given the bottle a cute makeover called Daisy In The Air. The last makeover was very dark, mainly black, which I admit I loved.

This update is more sunny and cute. It even comes with it's own scented blue daisy garland , as well as the vinyl petals on the stopper being pale blue now.

Daisy is a pretty , light, slightly sweet floral. Easy to like, easy to wear. Perhaps a cute Easter basket gift ?

Top Notes: Wild Strawberry, Violent and Ruby Red Grapefruit
Heart Notes:Gardenia, Violet Petals and Jasmine Petals
Base Notes: Musk, Vanilla and White Woods

The new issue of Sniffapalooza Online Magazine was published today. Bond 9 High Line

The High Line is a very neat looking park in NYC. I've never been in it, but have seen it from a building directly above. The whole idea of the industrial track area being made into a park is a great one. That's a photo of it winter, after one of the snowstorms.

The the High Line is the inspiration for Bond 9's newest perfume, called High Line.

The new fragrance smells very aquatic to me. While the note list is lengthy, I got little but the watery notes and maybe a tiny hint of dry grass/hay. I was hoping for a bit more wildflower but this is not a floral fragrance and I knew that going in.

I do love the bottle with it's depiction of flowers and grasses. It looks like it belongs in an Easter basket.

Notes are : Bergamot, Purple Love Grass, Indian Rhubarb, Red Leaf Rose, Tulips, Grape Hyacinth and Bur Oak

Retail: $220 for 100ml and $145 for 50ml http://www.bondno9.com/

Lancome L'Absolu Creme de Brilliance

L'Absolu Creme de Brilliance is Lancome's newest lip entry. It's a lip treatment as well as color product. The description is " Visibly Replenishing and Reshaping Lip Cream Pro-Xylane Concentrated"

That means it has Pro Xylane to help the lip area look younger as well as a serious moisture in it.

The formula is a glossy creme. Not as thick as a lipstick but more than a gloss.

The color wears decently. Like many moisturizing lipsticks it doesn't hold up as long as you would like, but the moisture stays on very long after the lipstick has worn off. I kept thinking as I wore it " what lip balm am I wearing, it's really good "? Only to realize I had put this on earlier.

The pigment in my color Amande Sucree is very good. It's a bit of a '90s brown but not flat, it has some shimmer and a bit of bronze. This has the pointed doe foot wand I loved from La Laque Fever. Not popular with everyone, I love that it gives you precise painting on your lips.

I'm liking this for easy wear to get strong color and moisture in one. Spring may be almost here but the lips still get dry. I do have to re-apply more than I'd like, but that's do-able. I also have used a base under it which gives longer wear.

Lancome L'Absolu Creme de Brilliance comes in 8 shades and is $ 29.00

This Dame's Desire is Liberty of London

Like most everyone I am loving the new MAC Liberty of London collab. The packaging is beautiful and the white compact a nice change. It's been a couple years since we've seen white cases, the Moonbathe collection I believe.

I have a couple favorites and one is Dame's Desire eyeshadow. It's a really beautiful purple one that I had a hard time getting just right in an image. MAC calls it a mid- tone reddish purple frost , but I see flashes of iridescent blue in there. It's not a deep purple nor is it light but stright up medium . It's all Spring and Easter as is much of the Liberty line.

Clinique Even Better Makeup

Once in awhile you come across a product in your stash that you've really not looked at much and suddenly you try it and it's a star. Thats happened to you right ?

The most recent one- Clinique Even Better Foundation. I think when I first got this it was high summer and there was no way any foundation was going to cut it that wasn't uber matte. My skin does dewy , well way more than dewy all by itself then. So I put it away.

Flash forward to winter and 2 feet of snow. Even my oily, now cold weather normal-ish, skin needs some extra moisture . So I grabbed this and found out I loved it. It truly does seem to even the skin a little and it certainly brightens. This all is right off, no skin treatment needed. You get a glow as there is a little radiance ( not shimmer) in there and while it's oil- free it's a dewy finish and so just right for my winter skin. For weeks it turned out to be the foundation I reached for every day . That's rare . I like to switch it up a lot.

The coverage is medium to full and it wears long. I know come summer this will go back in the closet, but for now I like having a little brightness and glow. Who wouldn't ?

Note: Clinique just launched a new Even Better Clinical Dark Spot Corrector that's supposed to be the strongest without a prescription. If you are in the market for spot fading, this might be worth a look. I haven't myself tried it.

Even Better Makeup sells for $ 24.50

CK One Summer 2010

Each summer Calvin Klein fragrances send out a summer version of perennial favorite CK One. This year's is in a very sunny yellow to orange ombre shaded bottle.

The scent is still very unisex. It's citrus, but not a strong or tart citrus. The watermelon note is there a tiny bit and the drydown brings the vetiver and musk notes in.

CK One is a light and an easy scent to put on for a hot summer day. It won't overwhelm, or be heavy

Packaged with a splash top and an optional spray , it can be used a splash or body spray.

Notes :

top: watermelon, pear, mandarin, kaffir lime leaves
mid: violet leaves, marigold, verbena, water lily
dry: patchouli, skin musk, vetiver, cedarwood

A 3.4 ounce bottle of EDT is $44.00

MAC Opulash Sneak Peek

One of the new items MAC tested at fashion week was new Opulash. While I didn't get a snap of the brush I did get one of the tube. It was used by Gregory Arlt to do the lashes seen here at Barbara Tfank.

Opulash is said to be MAC's longest lasting mascara ( I like that ). It should launch sometime in mid April and there will be plenty more details then.

Edit: Pre-sale is now at Nordstrom.com, on counter at Nordstrom April 22. Direct link here

Alexander McQueen Fall 2010- The Last Collection

McQueen's final collection was devastatingly beautiful. I am in awe looking at the images over and over. Only 16 pieces, hand cut by Mc Queen himself before he took his life last month, they leave you wanting much more. Then you realize sadly , that there will be no more. There are rumors that the line will continue, but obviously with someone else at the helm. I can't imagine anyone doing justice to the name and what he created, but one can hope.

As I am currently reading Wolf Hall, set in the time of Henry VIII when he was trying to divest wife number one with the help of Thomas Cromwell, this collection reminds of opulent history long past. The gowns may not of the period but you can easily see the ladies of the court in the lustrous brocade and feathers. Not that I couldn't see myself in them too, if that were an option.

I feature just a few favorite looks. For all visit http://www.style.com/
