Cashmere Mafia TV Show

Monday night I watched the first episode of Cashmere Mafia. I usually don't comment on TV shows, yes awards show, but not TV, but I couldn't help myself here. It was that bad.

What kind of stylist does this show have? The outfits were purely awful. These women supposedly make high six figure salaries and the show opens with the facades of Bendels and Bergdorfs. I don't think they are shopping there.
The the opening scene has Liu wearing a skirt I had a version of in 1986,and she has cufflinks with that white shirt. Plus, when does one wear sequins on their skirt to a publishing firm top postiton? Lucy Liu's office attire was entirely unappropriate for most corporate offices. A kimono top with an unmatched skirt in another scene. Club wear as office wear .

Then there is the gold/black surplice dress. That one came from 1976. Studio 54 leftover I would say. Not too mention bad cleavage on the prom leftover on poor Frances O Conner, who really can act.

All the dresses with the exception of all the little black ones they sported together were simply bad, and the photo of next week doesn't get better, with Liu in that green thing and Somerville in more 80s throwback. Hey I loved the 80s, but this stuff is wretched. ABC , call me if you want some new style help, I'd love to have a go at this.

A pity too that the show itself is rather bad. Lets hope Lipstick Jungle gets their version done better. They are all trying to be the next Sex and the City which is hard with a benchmark show thta went off the air years ago. Sex... also always got the fashion right, it may have been odd, but it was spot on.

Gawd, yes! The clothes were terrible! You forgot to mention the giant cardboard-and-gold-glitter earrings that accessorized that horrendous Studio 54 leftover dress. It was like the goal was to make these women look as physically awkward and badly-dressed as possible.

Patricia Field is actually the stylist for Cashmere Mafia. She takes the same daring approach she always does and just like Sex, it isn't always appropriate but it definitely makes a statement!
